Pat Carlyle will present to the Emerald Coast Meditation Society on October 5 on the topic “What is Freedom?” She will be joined by Loung Ly, a Buddhist Monk and Santa Rosa Beach Business owner.

During this exploration of personal freedom, Loung will share his personal journey from a refugee camp after he lost his parents during the Vietnam War, to his life as a teenage immigrant in Los Angeles. He will discuss his “adoption” by a kindly Buddhist teacher and the return to Vietnam to find his childhood friend from the camp.

Pat Carlyle will then give a talk on internal freedom and the meditative path to finding freedom and joy within. Pat is a Mindfulness Meditation teacher in Santa Rosa Beach. She began her meditation practice over 40 years ago and is dedicated to offering the teachings of spiritual practices that awaken our natural wisdom and compassion. She holds her M.Ed in Psychoeducational Processes and Organizational Development.

The free meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480 N. Co. Hwy. 393, Santa Rosa Beach, one-half mile north of Hwy 98. The ECMS is ecumenical and does not follow any religion. Donations will be accepted with gratitude for Christ the King for making meeting space available for our program. Please arrive at 6:15 if you would like instruction in meditation.

We will complete the evening with a group meditation and open discussion.
