Here are two photos from New Year's Eve morning with the fog rolling thick and heavy in SoWal. Merman and I walked from our place a mile down the beach to Seaside and you couldn't see very much ahead of you. It was beautiful beyond words! Not at all eerie or scary; just very quiet and surreal. It reminded me of the Maine coast, the way the fog hung heavy in the air. In all the years we've been visiting the beach, I've never seen the likes of that fog before. I was almost sorry when it burnt off later in the day and the landscape returned to its normal self.

Thanks Mermaid and welcome back!!! We experienced fog like that in SoWal last year at this time....it reminded me of the stillness of a snowfall. So wonderful...unless you were driving.

I thought the fog was waaaay cool. It added a different dimension to an already spectacular landscape.

We left the beach about 4 pm on New Years day and drove (with hazards on!) through the worst of that thunderstorm. You should have seen the lightening bolts going north on 331. If you closed your eyes, they were burned on your retinas. Multiple bolts..boom boom boom. It was really exciting ( yeah yeah, hold the comments about fools rushing in where angels fear to tread...we drove carefully ;-) )

Glad to be back home in Indiana to see what all my SoWallers have been up to all week!

For the most part, what we've been up to is living vicariously through you! Glad you made it home safe!
