We will do much relaxing, but we would like to get to know the area better. Plus, we have 6 kids - there is no such thing as relaxing for any length of time. Maybe the places weren't closed but had off season hours.

Then you should know about Fired Up! in Seaside. In the event of rain head on down there and paint some pottery. Works great to just get the kids out of the sun too.

We just got back from a fabulous trip to Grayton Beach the week of 4th of July. 5 nights was not enough for all you have to do! I can't wait to go back next year because I feel like I was just starting to figure it all out and then had to leave. We spent 3 good days just enjoying the beach at the State Park (where we stayed in a cabin) and went there in the evenings also. The kids had alot of fun with their nets trying to catch crabs, fish, etc. We ate breakfast at Flip Flops and had dinner at the Red Bar.

Does anyone have any reasonable dining recommendations for next year? Alot of the places I saw were kind of expensive. I feel like we missed out on some good dining. We drove into Panama City one day which was fun but made me sooooo glad we stayed in Grayton Beach. Such a zoo! I much prefer the laid back atmosphere of GB! It rained on Monday so we were not able to take in the Sleeping Beauty production at Seaside Amph. We did walk around the town of Seaside which was just beautiful.

I envy all of you that get to live in such a great place year round. Thanks for having us to your town. Everyone was so friendly!

I hope you enjoy your trip!

Just curious....does anyone else get "uncomfortable" when you're swimming in the ocean with your kids when someone comes up with a fishing line, puts bait on the end of it and throws it in right where you're swimming?

This seems to happen to us every year and I was just wondering what the etiquette is regarding this. I admit it -- I have been permanently scarred by Jaws.:yikes:Swimming next to fish bait seems so wrong to me.

We have never had that happen, but I think I would be more worried about a hook finding one of my kids than a shark if someone is fishing that close.

It seems odd that someone would try to catch fish where there is noise and splashing. :dunno: I always thought you wanted quiet.

I would say to your kids, take the noise up a notch. Maybe that will get the fisher person to go away. We have an 8 year old who loves to ask questions. She could probably talk the person away for you.:D

I've got 1/2 as many as you. I feel for you.

Have fun. This is a great place to do "nothing" with kids.
