I'd spend it on an airport for South Walton. It would benefit residents and tourism. I'd put it east of Point Washington, between Hwy 98 and the intracoastal waterway.

Not likely. Besides, ECP already helps tourism and it's already close to South Walton. And the cost of even a small general aviation facility would be prohibitive, not to mention the uproar it would cause among greenie weenies.

I would use it to improve the multi-use path and put in a separate bike/walk/gawk bridge at Western Lake.

Then we could get rid of the low speed limit, improve safety for bikers and walkers by getting them away from the road, and provide a fantastic location for people to stop and admire the iconic pines and dunes.

I vote for a private jet for our fine elected officials to go on "official" junkets in so they can travel in style. Maybe a Cessna Citation.

Water Quality improvement, not just monitoring. There's still something funky going on carrying over from last year.
This has been successfully done elsewhere with DNA testing to identify the source of the bacteria, no need to invent the wheel all over again. Increase the number and frequency of beach monitoring water samples and DNA test the bad ones. We still don't know if the source is human or animal, but testing can tell us. At least narrow it down so the search for the source(s) can begin. We can't do much about it until we know where it is coming from.

I actually think we should begin now even if we have to take money from some where else to get started.

I agree. Qualifying poor results would be the first step in understanding the true causes. I see on the latest water quality tests that the bacteria count for BMB spiked up again. This just seems so random.

We must address water quality 1st, safety (water, traffic, marine) 2nd, beach, dune and bay restoration 3rd, 1500 foot pier 4th and artificial reefs 5th. If we are serious about saving our paradise for future generations I doubt there will be any money left after numbers 1 and 2 but I absolutely see the beauty in a well constructed pier...

We don't need a pier - period much less a 1000 to 1500 ft ugly protrusion into our beautiful shoreline and gulf.

The reefs are a great idea

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. In my eyes I would love to have a pier if there is enough money to do it all. As for as the stupid comment I believe we are all very capable of doing stupid things at some point being that we are all humans however the pier is a grand idea (I qualify with a big IF there were enough money to do it all). I do not know if Grayton Beach would be the best location but I would use it a lot no matter where they locate it. I respect your wishes that you do not want it but please respect that other people may have a different opinion. This is probably all irrelevant anyway because we must have the infrastructure first.

I'm sure a lot of people would love to see a Roller Coaster, 300 ft Ferris Wheel on the beach. I'm sure a lot of people would come and ride. But they all have no place marring the beauty of our coastline.

How about a floating casino or helicopter rides from floating barges in one of our coastal dune lakes?

I'm more interested in your thoughts on mputnal's list than I am your sarcasm. I don't think anyone has proposed a casino or helicopter rides. Here's the list: (the pier has been discussed extensively in another thread so I don't think you need to revisit that, but what do you think about the rest of it?)
