check out some bamboo sheets. the fiber is so fine it's like sleping on silk. and cheap, and green. available at bb&b
Reviving this thread because Target has bamboo sheet sets on sale this week--$34 for full, but all sizes are on sale. They also have standard-size bamboo pillows on sale for $8. Thinking about getting some of those for my kids.
Now, go ye and shop thyself!

Seems like they would be itchy/scratchy, don't they? But they are supposed to be very soft.

Just the thought of them reminds me of growing up in Jax. We had a ton of bamboo in our back yard and that stuff itched like crazy.

Because I'm too lazy to look for it, I can't say who it was who said they feel like silk. And I think Mermaid backed him up on it...? Again, I'm too lazy to look.

Found this description on a website that sells bamboo sheets:

"Renewable bamboo fiber is making its mark in the world of natural fabric. A tall grass with a woody stalk, bamboo is grown without pesticides and naturally regenerates. The resulting fabric ? made from the pulp of the inner stalk ? is silky soft, three times more breathable than cotton, warm yet lightweight and unmistakably luxurious."

Bamboo fiber has officially entered the mainstream. Bed, Bath and Beyond now offers these sheets made of 100% bamboo fiber with a thread count of 230. Bamboo is one of the softest fabrics in the world ? softer than cotton but with a drape like silk. It comes from a rapidly renewable resource that doesn't require pesticides to grow. The sheet sets cost between $39-$99. :: Bed, Bath and Beyond

I've read (in those magazines that rate quality) that the quality of the cotton threads is more important than the thread count. I like our jersey sheets best, too, and will try out the Hanes T-shirt ones recommended on this thread. I read t(in one of those magazines that rate quality) that the high count sheets at Target were very good, though I wish I could remember which sheets they were! I think the quality and fit of pillows is at least as important as the sheets.

I bought some wonderful sheets at Target - Fieldcrest, I think. can't recall threadcount, but up there. And very nice, not expensive.

Uncle Smiley Joe-Joe:

yes, threadcount is very important in life. one's bed is a sanctuary of rest, peace, comfort, intimacy, etc. sheets, pillows, down comforters, and anything on the bed must be extremely comfy and inviting and wonderful.

yes, good bedding can be expensive, but not necessarily.

what size bed do you have? we'll have to get your bed in order at once ....
