Did you have the same college experience I did? Papers not receiving a high grade because the teacher disagreed with my skewed logic. I agree that math is too fun. Always works the same way and the rules do not change.

Okay...I will admit I aced Geometry. There was some hang up with me and Algebra 1 and it had some to do with the teacher. Math teachers that know how to share their love of math are few. Doesn't your ability to "master" and like math have something to do with your wiring?

Dunno. With me it had to do with pleasing the hell out of my beloved father who died unexpectedly of a heart attack my freshman year. He adored math, too.

This is the most frustrating thing about my job as a designer. There's no real answer to "when is the design complete" or "how good is it"...it's so subjective. Which is great when you're creating something for yourself, but frustrating as heck at a client meeting. (Example: women love to have the color sage in their designs, especially a few years ago. I've had no less than three male superiors come back and call it "baby **** green", and have me nix the color!) There's no right or wrong!


It's proven that having your kid study music improves their math skills. Because you innately learn about spatial relationships, so it develops the same part of the brain that does math. A lot of musicians I know are good in math (& computer programming), and vice versa.

Very intuitive, katie blue. It's easy to be comfortable in the objective world of math. The subjective world (such as in design) is more difficult. That's why my daughter switched from architecture to pre-med. One prof would say her design work was genius; the next would say it's a C. In math that wouldn't happen. You either solve a problem correctly or you don't; you either prove a theorem or you don't.

Okay, enough math. PASS THE COURVOISIER, BUSTER!

I've actually got a cold and am rather mellow myself tonight. But tomorrow, we're leaving to play at a music festival in FL, so I'll have all the "rowdy" I want this weekend... wish us luck!
