There's a lot more going on in the every day lives of Americans than this, imho.

Except for the families of those that lost on 9-11 and the huge majority of New Yorkers and those dying every day in Afghanistan because of the attacks. You are right though, too many more important things to worry about than this, lets just forget about that day......

Forget about 9/11? Impossible. Get past it?? Yeah, you're a few years behind the curve on that one.

I can't believe anyone takes this stuff seriously. It doesn't hurt unless you let it. It doesn't describe you unless you become it.

It is what it is, nothing.

Grammy, as to why Ugga's post got little response, I find it depends on who is the sitting President. When Bush was in, the jokes flew left and right about him, his lack of pronunciation, his lack of intelligence, etc etc. and those that supported him were thinned skinned about it. Now that Obama is President the party has simply changed. The jokes are about him and now those that don't want to take it have changed.

I did not find the ones about Bush/Republicans amusing and I don't find the ones about Obama/Democrats amusing. Not many will agree to that though.

I will say the topic was probably better suited for the Lounge instead of Political Disccusions.

totally agree. except I feel these are about American people, our friends and family, our loved ones, ourselves. not presidents.

I say lets take down the fence completely. I am neither Republican or Democrat, I am both at times by certain descriptions, at times neither.

I refuse to be boxed into a description. I vote for the person, and if there is no one running I truly deep down feel I can't support I don't vote.

I am not going to vote along party lines just to put a certain party in office if I don't find the candidate worthy.

Foremost I am an American, I really don't care about the rest.

To me politicial jokes that stereotype are like blonde jokes. They are only funny to those not blonde.

Resist the urge to let it bother you.

Walk the walk, what are your thoughts about folks who are irked by Christians and who don't want churches built because priests molest boys?

That would be pretty ridiculous, no? Well, it's not the perfect analogy but it's actually not that far off from your beliefs.
