Feb 1st will be your lucky day!!! I've been quit 11 years and celebrate every FEb 1st with chocolate cake! Don't worry about weight gain, you might pick up a few pounds but you will soon feel so much better, have better lung function and will be able to enjoy more exercise. You can do it, you will do it, you will be a non smoker soon.

So, I thought I would take a minute and give you all an update. I started taking Chantix on Saturday. I have to say it is a miracle drug. I wanted to try and do this without any help, but I soon realized that I was going to need it. My doc prescribed the Chantix and I have to admit I was a little nervous about taking it. I hate to take any kind of medicine. I was also very skeptical about its affect. However, my brother was a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker for over 30 years. He took the Chantix for two weeks and has not had a desire at to smoke at all. It has been a little over 3 months for him now. It is recommended for use for 12 weeks. I can tell you that after just 3 days of this stuff my desire to smoke has almost completely disappeared. It is so strange to think I want to smoke, and try to only to be completely and totally disgusted by it. I have not had any of the side effects on it, yet. I hope I don't. We go to our 3rd class tomorrow night. The class is really helping me as well.

Has anyone else taken Chantix and quit?

Thanks again for all the words of encouragement, they mean a lot to me. Will keep you posted.

Have you had any crazy dreams?

Others I know have tried Chantix and thought it was a big help, but had weird dreams!

We are rooting for you!

Thank you SB.

I haven't experienced any of them yet. My brother did say that he did, but it is was not bad enough for him to quit using the medicine. I am only on the 0.5 mg in the am right now. I start the evening one tomorrow night.... we shall see. Will let you know if I do.

Oh, wow I had not heard of that AL. My doctor also gave me a back up prescription of the Wellbutrin in case I couldn't do the Chantix. So far I am ok with it. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Will be in touch!

Thanks again y'all!

You are going to do fine. My symptoms were really rare, but they were on the package insert, after me and my Doctor looked. I never have a reaction to anything.

I'm rooting for you sweetie. I feel like a true non-smoker now. It doesn't bother me when other people smoke, expect for the smell. It stinks, and the cheaper the cigg, the stinkier....yuck.
