Italy - Germany match today was awesome and although my heart bled for the Germans who lost in the final minutes of overtime, there were 2 amazing goals from the Italians and they have assured themselves a spot in the final!

Now, PLEASE make France beat Portugal - have to watch the match today - and I will be delirious on Sunday.....

Anyone else in Sowal watching????

I'm not watching, but the rest of the family is. We're rooting for Italy since we'll be going there in a few weeks and our Italian relatives and friends will be in extra-good spirits if Italy wins the World Cup.

When we were in NC Saturday night, we ate a small Mexican restaurant that, despite the fact it only seated about 50 people, had 5 TVs! All tuned to World Cup coverage. It was fun- and the staff waited tables with one eyeball on the TVs! We felt so ignorant not really knowing much about it, and I explained to the kids that we are the only country that is not have national coniption fits and holidays over it, which is sad, 'cause it looks like funn.

My dad's family actually came over from Italy to Ellis Island. Name was changed as soon as they came ashore at Ellis Island. Their name was hard to pronounce so they shortened their name. We were cheering for Italy also.

When I was in Italy about 25 years ago, the bus drivers would keep one eye on the road and one eye on the world cup on TV while driving through those skinny winding mountain roads... it was scary. Today, though, I can't figure out how the reception was good on those TVs since we can't get the TV to work in our van.

I've only caught glimpses of the World Cup. I've been hooked on Wimbledon! There have been some of the most intense matches this tournament I've ever seen!!!

I watched my first World Cup game yesterday with a bunch of Italians. Didn't expect to enjoy it so much but quickly got interested. I'm sure the good looking Italian soccer players helped. What a game! :clap_1: Go Italy!!!

Last night was the first time my husband and I watched some of the World Cup. They go so long sometimes before anyone scores. Took going into overtime. Have been catching some Wimbledon also, however, there are no Americans left unfortunately! Of course, Roger Federer will probably win the whole thing! Nadal has beaten him on clay a few times lately, but probably will not be able to beat him on grass. But every match is different!
