#4 - a friend and I have decided to go to the airport on a Thur and take the next flight to where ever it is and it has to be a cheap flight. I am secretly hoping it's Albuquerque. ;-)

Don't try the from here. You'd only have at most three choices ATL, Memphis, and Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Don't worry, we'll be at the major hub for this adventure. Am also secretly hoping I can use my companion tickets for an even better deal! :D

I can only think of two things right now...

Hold my grandchild.

Hold a retired Mr. Kitty's hand while walking down the beach with Molly.

At this rate I'll hold my grandchild before I hold my child... If I don't find a husband, can I hold Mr. Kitty's other hand? :D

Mine is "50 things I want to do before I die" that I wrote down back in high school. I have crossed off 24 so far! Each item that gets crossed off has a date and an explanation. My favorite note is for #24. Master high heels - Rome Summer 2002, 3" heels + cobblestones = master. :D

It is quite an eclectic mix:
-major life milestones (graduate high school, graduate college, get married, have a baby)
-things I want to accomplish (write a book, read 200 classic books, learn 2 languages besides English, learn to write w/ my left hand, study theology)
-places I want to go (most of the US, Alaska, Mexico, another continent)
-things I want to do/learn how to do properly (cook, lamp/blow glass, ice skate backwards, shoot a handgun, windsurf)
-goofy things I think everyone should do (own cowboy boots, string bikini),
-things that seemed "big" to me at the time (have a checking account, move away from home)

I have started adding more as I accomplish things. It's pretty funny to see some of the stuff that made the list a decade ago! The one that would probably amuse Sowal the most is that at one time "learn how to 'surf the net'" was on the list!

Great list, Scooty. I was big on the left hand thing when I was in high school/college, too. 3 of my dearest friends were left-handed, and I was always jealous!

However...

I have no idea where it came from - best guess is I had read something about someone like President Garfield who could write with both hands and in different languages at the same time. Or that my right hand was tired from taking notes or something. Or because Canoehead was left handed I wanted to learn how too. There's some random stuff on there.

...I've recently learned that the ability of those like Garfield and others who were notorious multi-taskers is a male ability. Has to do with hemispericity and gender. I can email you a 30-something page research paper on it if you'd like.

1. Pay off everything I own so I can retire from the "Corporate World" and move to SoWal and become a bartender somewhere. (I am serious about this).

2. See my son graduate high school, college, be independent, get married, give me a grandchild, and be happy.
3. Own a convertible sports car.

4. Meet Bruce Springsteen.

5. Have hair down to the middle of my back. (I am over it being short now).

for starters. ;-)

1. I used to want to pay off everything until I realized that if I die in debt I can't take it with me. I have life insurance so that my parents don't have to keep it, either.

3. Check--totally worth it. Do it now.

5. I read that wrong at first. I thought you wanted hair down the middle of your back.

I want to go to New Zealand, Eastern Canada (Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland) and Italy. BB found me a travel buddy, but we're working on the continental U.S. for now--2 different places a year is the goal.

As soon as I have time I want to take ballet and tap lessons. I was always in piano lessons, so I didn't get to do that stuff. Mrs. Hop tells me ballet will lengthen my muscles (poor stubby muscles of mine!) I used to bug Mother Hop about teaching me, but I think she gave up on me. I think tap would just be funn...

I've been crossing a few off: Finished my Master's (have I mentioned that in the last 10 minutes?) jumped out of a plane, began to learn to surf, ran a marathon (enough to get the medal, anyway!)

Ride my mtn bike in the 24 hours of adrenalin.
Finish one 100 mile + adventure race.
Visit my mom in Illinois (this has proven more difficult than I ever imagined).
Take the family kayaking in Alaska. I hate that they weren't with me the first time.
Go on a honeymoon with my husband.
Get all six kids grown up, moved out, AND have them still want to visit and call often.
Visit England with ChefEd and have him show me his old haunts where he grew up.
Get this dang book written.
Own a REALLY good camera again and actually use it.
Trace my great grandmother Effie Idora Lang (we aren't even sure if that was her real name or a nickname) Apparently she was orphaned at 2 and her daughter (pictured above) was orphaned at 11. THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.

On my list......

!. Going on a one horse open sleigh ride. Being from Miami, I have never experienced this, but always sang about it at Christmastime. I can imagine the joy of the snow on my face and the lights twinkling, then returning home to a cup of hot cocoa.

2. Holding my granddaughter....just a few more weeks......and teaching her to joys of the beach. Her maternal grandparents are horse people so they can teach her the joys of equestrian life. We are beach people, they are horse people - she will be balanced!

3. Going to dance at a "big band" ballroom. My parents met at the Rainbow Room in New York City during the second World War. (Do they even have these any more?)

4. Taking a "destination unknown trip" where we start out and don't have a plan - just go wherever. I am too organized for my own good.

5. Buying a ridiculously expensive pair of shoes and feeling like Cinderella when I slip them on.

6. Traveling down the river in a gondola in Venice, Italy with my husband and sons.

7. Seeing the lush, green countryside in Ireland and Scotland.
I think I like you a lot!

OH, and by the way...I did not even know I had a bucket list, but I have managed to create one as I accomplish what I want....

Get a divorce

Buy my own home and furnish it with the things I love

Go on a Mediterranean cruise (Greece )

Back-pack through Europe for two weeks

Fall in love with a place that is my heart

Write a book

Sell my home

Move to the place of my heart

Find a wonderful place to live that all the things that I love will fit in and is near my family

Work at a place that I love

Have wonderful family and friends as close as a short car ride

Having the time of my life

Be as content as I am

Live 3 miles from the glorious gulf

JEESE, what more could I want other than seeing my beautiful kids more than I do ( and one more thing that will happen when it is time ;-))

OK.....feel free to barf :rotfl:

Well, I already cheated. Checked delta.com last night and cheapest flight right now is to Detroit from Atlanta, of which I WILL NOT be going there.

Meeting friends like YOU is all part of my bucket list

:love::love: You, too!!
