Awful lot of "public record" info is now readily accessible via internet. Most counties in US (Walton, FL among them) have property and related tax records, and civil and criminal court records available online now.

Leave it to the government to get their info all screwed up!

Strangely enough, my sister's deceased husband's info is listed (he's been dead for 17 years!), but there's no record of her at all. Go figure!

Yeah, I just discovered zabasearch the other day and it creeped me out.
I think what Ohiobeachbum says obtaining property and tax records is true, and yeah, leave it to the government to screw up someone's address.
I guess someone just came up with the software, and the rest was history.

I'm no defender of intrusions on privacy, but this is little more than I can get by calling 411 or flipping through the phone book.

Could someone who has an unlisted phone number give this a try and post back as to with whether or not the unlisted number shows up? That actually might be a basis for some sort of action.

My phone number is unlisted!!!! However, it does show up in this Zabasearch. Wonder what I can do about it!!!!!!

They have my age off by five years, so I know where they got it. When I run a 10K, I always subtract five years from my age so that if I happen to do well enough to be in the newspaper, no one will know my correct age.

Actually you can do better searches. Their searches are set up to look for "John" and "Doe," instead of "John Doe." So you get way too many hits.

It's still pretty scary that all of this info is out there. If you have a college student, try Googling him/her - I did and found some surprising things on one of those live journal sites.

Yeah, Google is almost the same as Zabasearch (if not worse!) if your number is listed. I have a college student (well actually, he just graduated) but all I found on him is his soccer team, no torrid LJ stuff.
A friend of mine has an unlisted number, but Zabasearch still had her. I guess if you really have nothing to hide, do not have a stalker, and have not posted your SS#, it is not that big a deal.
I am not about to retire from the internet, it's just kinda creepy and Big Brotherish.
