Habitat For Humanity of Walton County

Walton County, One Family at a Time

Habitat for Humanity of Walton County is a non-profit Christian ministry dedicated to the elimination of substandard housing in Walton County Florida. We provide opportunities for the community to show God’s love in action, in partnership with people in need as we help break the cycle of poverty by building decent affordable housing and improving the quality of life of our partner families.

“A lot of people think we give houses away but we actually partner with habitat families. So whatever it costs us to build a house is what the homeowner pays back at zero percent interest,” explains Habitat for Humanity of Walton County Executive Director Teresa Imdieke. “This makes it much more affordable for the home owner. Each home is built by volunteers including siding and cabinet installation. We are essentially doing away with the labor cost of the home construction.”

A Hand Up, Not A Hand Out

Their programs are not a hand out, but rather a hand up. We forever change the lives of 2 families each year with generous donations from the communities we serve— donations both monetarily and through volunteerism. The programs requires every qualified family to give 250 sweat equity hours per adult living the house, a small closing fee, the family must attend credit and financial counseling provided by Habitat for Humanity, and ultimately pack back 100% of the cost to build the home in manageable monthly payments.
