The Music in Pictures Community Festival will be held at South Walton High School May 18 from 2-5pm.
Music in Pictures, presented by Rosemary Beach Foundation, is an educational project and student art contest. Over 2,000 students from 17 schools listened to and visually interpreted works by classical comoposers. 300 paintings will be displayed Mar 17-Apr 25 at Amavida in Rosemary Beach, Santa Rosa Beach Coastal Library, Sacred Heart Hospital, and Summer Kitchen Cafe.
Community Festival Event Schedule:
2-3:45pm
- Express yourself! at the painting area - Create artwork while listening to the same music that inspired the students’ works.
- Artwork screening – Enjoy a slide show of paintings inspired by classical compositions, created by 300 K-12 students from 17 Walton County schools.
- Experience instruments! - Florida State University graduate students will showcase the different instruments of the orchestra by giving short performances.
- Musical petting zoo - You are invited to try out several instruments, and experience the vibration and sound firsthand!
- Student pictures - Finalists may have their photo taken with families and guests!
4-5pm
- Awards presentation - Celebrate creative accomplishments! All students and teachers will be honored!
- Chamber music concert “Americana” featuring: Deborah Bish (Clarinet); Jihye Chang (Piano); Gregory Sauer (Cello); Benjamin Sung (Violin).
