Camellia Festival at Eden Gardens State Park Feb 21

The Friends of Eden and Florida State Parks pay tribute to the Camellia Saturday, Feb.21 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Eden Gardens State Park in Point Washington. Visitors are invited to stroll through rows of camellias, observe a camellia floral arrangement demonstration, practice air layering - a camellia propagating technique, and get tips on camellia waxing for bloom preservation. Marie Harrison, author and master gardener, will facilitate a program on camellia care and offer tips on gardening.   
 
Camellia Festival Schedule:  
 
10:30-11:10 a.m. - Presentation on Camellias by Marie Harrison
11:15 a.m. - Waxing Camellia Blooms
11:45 a.m. - Demonstrations on Air-layering
12:30 p.m. - Floral Demonstration using Camellias by Tim Ard of Emerald Coast Flowers
Noon-2 p.m. - Dismal Creek Live on Stage
 
Camellias air layered from Eden plants will be available to take home from the nursery for a donation to the Friends of Eden Gardens. Living history re-enactors dressed in period clothing will be present on the grounds during the Festival as well. This community event is free with free admission to Eden Gardens State Park. 
 
Eden Gardens State Park consists of 124 upland acres in historic Point Washington, along the shores of Tucker Bayou and Choctawhatchee Bay. The focal point of the park is the Wesley House. The estate is surrounded by moss-draped live oaks and ornamental gardens, the legacy of the many gardeners and master gardeners who belong to the Friends of Eden Gardens State Park, and give lovingly of their time and labor.
