February Filled With Art at Bayou Arts Center

The month of February is full of artistic learning at the Bayou Arts Center with weekly and special workshops and classes presented by the Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) of Walton County. The CAA offers over 200 workshops, classes and programs annually for artists of all ages and skill levels. From weekly half-day classes to multi-day intensive workshops, each learning experience is of the highest quality taught by skilled and caring instructors.
 
February’s line-up consists of classes in acrylics, pastels, watercolor, and basket weaving.  Most of the CAA’s classes are offered weekly, and some feature guest instructors, like Tom Lynch, who will lead a four-day watercolor workshops entitled “Watercolor Secrets Revealed” February 23 – 26, along with a free artist demo on February 22 as part of the CAA’s monthly Artist Programs.
 
Unless noted, all workshops take place at the Bayou Arts Center located at 105 Hogtown Bayou Lane off North County Road 393 in historic Old Town Santa Rosa Beach.  Workshops require advanced registration by calling the CAA at 850-622-5970.

"Watercolor Secrets Revealed" with Tom Lynch

Tom Lynch has written seven books, hosted an award-winning PBS TV Art Series and was recently listed as one of the nation’s top 20 teachers by American Artist Magazine. He is currently featured on the new cable TV channel Visual Arts Network (VAN) and on the leading internet art education site ArtAcademyLive.com.
 
Tom’s workshop, “Watercolor Secrets Revealed,” invites students to experience the vast range of flexibility of watercolor in a fun atmosphere that welcomes the advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced painter. Each day includes demonstration paintings with detailed explanations of the “how” and “why” followed by individual attention so that each student understands and has an example of the day’s objective and a positive critique session. Tom will include tips on photography, on-location painting, matting and salvage techniques for discarded paintings.
