Hurricane Michael News from South Walton, Florida

October 13, 2018 by Kurt Lischka

Here in SoWal we are very thankful that we had very little impact from Hurricane Michael. Damage was limited to a relatively small number of trees down causing brief road closures and power out for much of South Walton for a couple of days. All businesses are open and the Gulf water is back to blue and beautiful.

Our hearts and prayers go out to our neighbors to the east who have been devastated from Panama City Beach over to Apalachicola and beyond. There are many relief efforts underway in South Walton at local businesses and organizations, and many donation drives. We are posting the latest info on the SoWal Forum and our Facebook page.

Several of our live BeachCams on Scenic 30A use Mediacom internet service which is down at this time.
The Seagrove Skycam is on a different provider and it is working. Also up and streaming live video from the beach:
Seaside BeachCam at Bud & Alley's
Sandestin BeachCam
Miramar BeachCam at Majestic Sun

Any word on the Mediacom situation? 10-13
Someone posted on the SoWal Forum that Mediacom flows through Wewahitchka which was near the eye. If true it will be awhile. You can msg them on Twitter https://twitter.com/MediacomSupport I have started a thread so keep your eye on https://sowal.com/forum/threads/mediacom-internet-service-after-hurricane-michael.94723/
