Roads Less Traveled In South Walton

South Walton is beautiful in ways that challenge the imagination. Word has gotten out about our sleepy collection of sophisticated-yet-casual communities whose prominent allure is the pristine white-sand beach and its complement – the glistening emerald-hued Gulf. While the shore whets travelers’ appetites, it’s what’s off the beach that may be most deserving of our attention.
 
 

 

Miramar Beach is The Best of Both Worlds

In our area, we are fortunate to have two premier beach destinations that merge almost seamlessly together. While they are neighbors, each offers a unique experience. The remarkable communities of which we speak are, of course, South Walton and Destin. 
 
South Walton is comprised of a varied collection of “towns” that nestle predominantly along Scenic Highway 30A. Each offers their own interpretation of a life well lived by the beach. 

 

Ride to Valhalla Victory Celebration at Big Daddy's Bike Shop Oct 30

Big Daddy's Bike Shop is thrilled to welcome Zack Garner and Adam Smith to South Walton this week. The Green Beret Adventure Team is cycling 4,600 miles across America on their Ride to Valhalla to raise awareness about traumatic brain injuries and post traumatic stress in our military. Our friends at Big Daddy's are planning a heck of a party which will take place at the Bike Shop in Blue Mountain Beach on Friday, Oct. 30 from 1 - 5 p.m.

Eastern Surfing Association Strong in SoWal

Did you know eleven-time world champion surfer Kelly Slater started surfing and honing his skills through the Eastern Surfing Association? The ESA is the largest amateur surfing association in the country. And our own local chapter of the North Gulf Florida region is the fastest growing district and second largest in the Southeast. Just a year and a half ago this chapter had sixteen members. That number is now closing in on 160!

 

 

Fall Eco Adventures in Walton County

The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) of Northwest Florida State College announces the fall session of its award winning eco-tourism initiative, Discover Roads Less Traveled: Eco-Adventures of Walton County.

“CBA’s eco-tours are intended to bring participants to local, off the beaten path environmental wonders,” states CBA’s eco-tour coordinator, Brandy Foley. “We hope that these tours will entice individuals to experience our local environment from a different perspective.”
