Kids Before Politics Campaign Aims to Improve Walton County Schools

The Walton County School District has voted to place a referendum on the August ballot that will give voters the opportunity to change the way the school superintendent is chosen. Currently the position is an elected one, the referendum changes the Position to an appointed one based on experience, education, and qualifications.

Seacoast Collegiate High School Hosts Informational Night Mar. 26

Seacoast Collegiate High School would like to invite community members, friends, and prospective students and their families to attend a special Informational Night on Wednesday, March 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in rooms 119 and 120. During Informational Night, guests will learn more about the high school and student academic plans in honors, dual enrollment, and advanced placement coursework. Faculty and staff will be available to answer any questions and give tours. Seacoast is located at the South Walton Center of Northwest FloridaState College. 

Healthcare Costs Seminar at Sacred Heart Hospital

Mainstay Financial Group will present a free seminar titled “Healthcare Costs – Planning for Bumps in the Road with Long-term Care” on Monday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Family Birth Place conference room at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. The conference room is located on the second floor of the Family Birth Place, which has a separate entrance to the west of the main entrance of the hospital.

Have you or your loved one been diagnosed with diabetes? Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast invites you to join the next diabetes self-management class on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 17 and 18, from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. The class will take place in the Resource Center Suite one education building at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

This year’s excessive rain opens our eyes to the impact Mother Nature has on living creatures, both human and non-human. Human behavior is directly affected by the amount of sunshine we receive daily, not to mention the fresh air and exercise, all critical to our health and happiness.

We wait for the sun to pop through the clouds so we can grab a boat or a board and head for the water. Our bodies in motion don’t know what to do with too much indoor time, especially here in paradise.
