 November is one of the most patriotic months of the year, with both Election Day and Veterans Day on the calendar. Sandestin invites those who fought for our freedom to enjoy a special weekend of R&R on November 8-11.

Retired and active duty members alike are being honored this Veterans Day weekend with special rates and discounts at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Grand Boulevard’s third annual “Festival of Trees” will showcase 13 uniquely decorated Christmas trees from area non-profit organizations, Nov. 20 – Dec. 25 in Grand Park. The public is invited to attend the kick-off on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. as the trees are lighted, judged on their decorations, and winners are announced at 6 p.m. “Festival of Trees” is free and open to the public.

One of South Walton's most popular fall events, the annual Flutterby Festival is returning to Rosemary Beach, November 10-11, 2012. Presented by the Merchants of Rosemary Beach and the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA), the annual Flutterby Festival celebrates art, nature, and the migration of the Monarch Butterfly. The family-friendly event sponsored by SoWal.com returns with fan favorites along with some special new elements, including interactive presentations by the team at Zoo World in Panama City Beach.

Saturday, October 6, Sandestin Tennis hosted it's annual Serve2Cure Fundraiser.  The staff of Sandestin Tennis, volunteers, guests, and the community raised more than $24,000 for Sacred Heart Hospital, and its program to help meet breast cancer needs of underserved patients.  The oncology department of Sacred Heart Hospital is the only treatment center in the Emerald Coast area that will accept non-insured patients.

Telluride MountainFilm on Tour is back to WaterColor's Marina Park for the 12th year November 2 & 3, 2012. The SoWal.com-sponsored event is a favorite of many locals and not to be missed. Rather than howling at the moon, a coven of women called the Witches of South Walton will wake at the break of dawn on Halloween morning to mount bikes, not broomsticks.

More than 60 “SoWal women in witchy garb will meet on their festively-decorated bikes at Miss Lucille’s Gossip Parlor at 7 am in Gulf Place on Scenic 30A to ride 4.4 miles to Butler Elementary and back.

Celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day 2012 with a certain je ne se quoi as French Beaujolais winemaker and long-time arts supporter Georges Duboeuf brings “A Taste of France” to Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, Thursday, November 15, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Beaujolais fans will enjoy an alfresco-style “Taste of France” featuring French-inspired cuisine, Cru tasting and Champagnes.  Unique to this event is a live art competition.
