Fisher House on the Emerald Coast won its second consecutive “Best of Show” award at the 2012 Festival of Trees in Grand Boulevard. The award came with a $2000 check. The theme for the tree is Helping Heroes Heal. The Fisher House team was led by the organization’s executive director, Kim Henderson.

The Sandestin Wine Festival at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, one of the most treasured traditions in the South, today announced that internationally known food personality, author and restaurateur Paula Deen will be featured at its April 2013 event.
The award-winning documentary about local musician Duke Bardwell is finally coming to Florida with a special screening at the 2013 30A Songwriters Festival. Duke & The King tells the story of Duke, one of our great, unheralded musicians and songwriters in America. He's a low-key and humble SoWal celebrity (see story below).
Grand Boulevard’s third annual “Festival of Trees” will showcase 13 uniquely decorated Christmas trees from area non-profit organizations, Nov. 20 – Dec. 25 in Grand Park. The public is invited to attend the kick-off on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. as the trees are lighted, judged on their decorations, and winners are announced at 6 p.m. “Festival of Trees” is free and open to the public.
One of South Walton's most popular fall events, the annual Flutterby Festival is returning to Rosemary Beach, November 10-11, 2012. Presented by the Merchants of Rosemary Beach and the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA), the annual Flutterby Festival celebrates art, nature, and the migration of the Monarch Butterfly. The gang at Sandestin has a great track record of starting all kinds of fun festivals. Usually they start small and grow over the years. That is exactly what has happened with the annual Baytowne Beer Festival. It started small but has grown quicker than most, not suprising given the average American's love affair with the sudsy beverage.
Rosemary Beach is bringing back one of our favorite events, the third annual “Rosemary Beach Uncorked,” a culinary and wine pairing event on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Net proceeds from the event will benefit Caring and Sharing of South Walton, a volunteer group which provides food and assistance to locals in need, and Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center.
