Main Street DeFuniak Springs believes everyone deserves a beautiful, vibrant downtown – a place that has a thriving local economy, is rich in character, and features inviting public spaces that make residents and visitors feel they belong. We want to celebrate the rich history of our community, while helping breathe new life into our downtown economy.

Main Street DeFuniak Springs (MSD) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in DeFuniak Springs, FL. MSD’s mission is to preserve, protect, maintain and improve the historic downtown district of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and to increase community events and economic vitality to the downtown business district region.

Set in the heart of DeFuniak Springs, our Historic Downtown District is the life blood of our community. Downtown DeFuniak Springs is the embodiment of historic Walton County. Annual celebrations of our history, culture, natural resources, and artisanal talent highlight the calendar. Baldwin Avenue, DeFuniak Springs’ Main Street, plays host to every major community event throughout the year as locals and visitors alike mingle with friends and family while enjoying our great Southern Charm.  

As guest explore our historic Chautauqua campus, they are drawn across our historic railroad line to dine and shop on the streets locals have been using since the 1880’s. No matter their taste, everyone can find something to satisfy their taste buds. From appetizers to desserts and everything in between can be found in our downtown. And when meal time is over, our retail stores can help find that perfect something to complete your visit with us. Whether on Baldwin or one of our numbered side streets, a stop inside a local retail shop reveals shelves brimming with new discoveries upon each visit. 

But downtown isn’t just shops and restaurants, it’s the people that make our downtown special.  

Our downtown has been visited, occupied and transformed by the amazing men and women to call DeFuniak Springs home for nearly 140 years. Our history is captured in the stories and lore heard throughout our downtown and we embrace our historic character and the authentic identity that history brings. The people of DeFuniak Springs are the glue that binds our community together. Local men and women, generations of stories about how things were, how things are, and how we want things to be for our kids. Every person here has a story to tell and if you stick around long enough, you just might begin creating your own story of why you love this downtown.
