Merry Main Street In Downtown DeFuniak Springs Begins Nov 26

Main Street DeFuniak Springs hosts the town's annual holiday festivities, Merry Main Street, beginning Saturday, November 26, and continuing through December 17, with events every Friday and Saturday prior to Christmas.

Free to attend, Merry Main Street  offers live music and performances, the weekly outdoor Mistletoe Market, festive Food Truck Friday, rides on the Choctaw Express Train, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, kids character appearances, and more family fun – all taking place in historic downtown DeFuniak Springs.

Fittingly, Merry Main Street will begin on November 26, 2022, in celebration of Small Business Saturday, an annual holiday shopping tradition — just one part of the larger Shop Small Movement that supports small businesses every day and everywhere. For the support of its community and putting small businesses first, Main Street DeFuniak Springs has been designated a Neighborhood Champion by American Express.

Shop Small Business Saturday in-store specials and promotions at participating merchants including Anita’s Half & Half, Bogey’s Bar & Restaurant, Café Nola, DeFuniak Springs Art Gallery, Embers Bistro, Enforcement Firearms, Fisher’s Pharmacy, H&M Hot Dogs, Katie Beth’s Boutique & Spa, Merle Norman Cosmetics DeFuniak & EmmaLee’s Boutique, Nook and Cranny Consignment, Perla Baking Co., Rhodes Jewelers, Soiree, The Pink House Aesthetics & Wellness Boutique, Tina Smith Photography Studio & Boutique, and Vault 46. The weekly Mistletoe Market will take place November 26, December 3, December 10, and December 17 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Taking place on Baldwin Avenue between S. 7th and S. 8th St., the market will showcase gift ideas, delicious treats, and unique finds catered to the holiday season. During the Saturday, November 26 Mistletoe Market a fundraising raffle will be held by the First National Bank’s OB McClintock four-sided chime clock on the corner of Baldwin Avenue and S. 7th St. for children interested in winning a chance to turn on the Christmas tree with Santa. Santa will draw the lucky child’s name around 5:00 p.m., and the lighting of the tree will signify the official beginning of the holiday season in the City of DeFuniak Springs.

Weekly Mistletoe Market happenings will include pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus in front of the Baldwin Avenue Christmas Tree and kids character appearances at The Opinion Place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., evening rides downtown on the Choctaw Express Train, live music, and special performances.

In addition to their regularly scheduled second Friday Food Truck Friday event, Main Street DeFuniak Springs will host a collection of local and regional food trucks and trailers the first and third Fridays in December from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The lineup of trucks for the December 2, December 9, and December 16 events will be posted on the Main Street DeFuniak Springs Facebook and Instagram.

Taking place in tandem with the City of DeFuniak Springs light show around Lake DeFuniak, Christmas Reflections, Merry Main Street events spotlight the historic downtown business district and locally owned and operated businesses. Event sponsors include Bis Boss Stores, Clark Partington Attorneys at Law, Fisher’s Pharmacy, Florida Power & Light Company, Henderson Barrett, LLC., Merrifield & Pilcher Realty, Panhandle Concessions & Catering LLC., and Visit South Walton.
