The Friends of Eden Gardens invite the community to the annual Camellia Festival at Eden Gardens State Park on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 10:00am til 2:00pm. The Camellia Festival includes presentations on camellias, from how they are air layered to floral arrangements. There will also be heritage presenters throughout the park, demonstrating skills such as blacksmithing, chair caning and candle making, to name a few. The band Earth Vibes will provide musical entertainment on the bayou stage, so bring your chairs or blankets and plan to spend the afternoon with us.
Floral demonstrations and presentations will be held throughout the day. Visitors are invited to stroll through beautiful camellias in full bloom in gardens throughout the park. Enjoy live music and have a picnic. Food and drink vendors will be available.
Camellias will be available for a donation from the nursery. Living History re-enactors will also be present on the grounds during the Festival. Food vendors will be present on the grounds, picnic tables by Tucker Bayou are available for visitors use in the Park. This community event is free with paid admission to the Park. Donations to Friends of Eden Gardens always appreciated.
Visitors are invited to stroll through amazing Camellias, enjoy a Camellia floral arrangement demonstration, learn air layering, (a Camellia propagating technique), and Camellia waxing for bloom preservation. Our favorite SoWal State Park for taking a break from the beach is the spectacular Eden Gardens State Park on Tucker Bayou in Point Washington. Drive straight up Scenic Hwy 395 from Seagrove Beach, across Hwy 98 and you'll see the entrance up on the left.
The focal point of the park is the Wesley house, a beautifully renovated, two-story house with elegant white columns and wraparound porch complete with rocking chairs. Surrounded by moss-draped live oaks and ornamental gardens, the Wesley house inspires visions of hoop skirts and landed gentry. It's a favorite place for weddings and other events, and includes a covered stage for performances, a large screened pavilion, and bricked areas under the oaks for giant event tents.
