Come out and join beach loving locals and for the Ocean Conservancy’s 2016 International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 17. We can all help keep our beautiful beaches clean and pristine - from beach to bay!

This year, several efforts are underway on the beach, in parks and along bay shores. See below for area events coordinated by Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) in Destin, Freeport, Fort Walton Beach and more.

CBA and its Partners are co-hosting coastal cleanup efforts, in collaboration with the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup, to reduce the negative impacts of marine debris (trash) along coastal ecosystems in Okaloosa County & Walton County, FL.

Cleanup efforts will be held at the site locations listed below from 9am-11am, Saturday, September 17, 2016.

9-11am | Norriego Point Public Beach Access & Park
CBA and the City of Destin, FL are co-hosting a site location at Norriego Point Public Beach Access. The clean-up will be held from 9:00am-11:00am. Volunteers are asked to arrive promptly at 9am and report to the back of the parking lot by the green dumpsters. Gulf Shore Drive (end of Holiday Isle), Destin, FL

9-11am | Liza Jackson Park
CBA and the City of Fort Walton Beach, FL are co-hosting a site location at Liza Jackson Park. The clean-up will be held from 9:00am-11:00am. Volunteers should go to the park's WEST entrance, and meet site coordinator under the pavilion closest to the boat ramp. 338 Miracle Strip Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL

9-11am | Choctaw Beach
Volunteers should arrive promptly at 9:00am and park/report to the bayside of HWY 20 East in Choctaw Beach, just east of Villa Tasso, along the guardrail. Volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes, weather appropriate clothing and bring gloves.

All other clean-up supplies will be provided to volunteers upon arrival to their site location. Please arrive early to ensure that you receive proper instruction for the clean-up effort. All volunteers are participating at their own risk. All entities involved in coordinating the clean-up effort are not held liable in the event of injury. First-aid will be availble in the event of minor injury. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
