When Amavida Coffee & Tea changed locations within Seaside recently, Jay Eichelberger and company saw an opening for their Cocina Cubana eatery which opened with a limited menu shortly before Labor Day, 2019. The most recent SoWal Real Estate Report covers all of Walton County including South Walton real estate activity for July 2019, with statistics for single family homes, townhomes, and condos in Walton County, Florida. Single family homes closed sales were up 2.8% for July 2019 compared to the same month last year. The number of pending sales for Walton County was up 31.5%. Inventory was down 3%. Bob DeBellis and his wife blew into SoWal in the late nineties, after Hurricane George blew them from their island home in St. John. Bob has always been a beach lover and a coffeee lover. His love of both were the inspiration for the beach-themed Beachy Coffee Company he founded to live out his dream. "We have good quality blends for everyday coffee with a fun mindset," says Bob. Traditionally, the harvest moon symbolizes a new beginning and that's why Point Washing Medical Clinic works as hard as they do. The volunteers, staff and supporters of the Point Washington Medical Clinic (PWMC) have dedicated hours of time and commitment this year, leading to the expansion of the clinic’s hours of operation to offer a second day of care. The free clinic is now open on Mondays and Wednesdays in order to accommodate more patients. Lunchtime at Red Fish Taco is a festive affair! We like to hop over to the Blue Mountain Beach eatery as often as we can to get our fix of fun and tacos. Seems like too long since our last visit. If you haven't been to the hot spot in Redfish Village (where Trebeache' used to be), they’ve really brightened the place up. Chef Jim Shirley has expanded his collection of popular SoWal restaurants with the opening of North Beach Tortilla Co. (NBTC), a taco and tequila bar on the bay at the 331 bridge. Excellent sunset views and happy hour offerings already have us hanging out regularly on the white sand beach, working to disprove (prove?) the slogan painted over the beachside bar, "Tequila Always Wins." The 8th Annual Alys Beach 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run takes place Labor Day weekend on Sunday, September 1 from 7am til 12pm. Located along Scenic 30A, the course winds through the resort town and ends with an oversized obstacle course for kids of all ages.
