Rivard of South Walton in Grayton Beach was acquired by Ocean Reef Vacation Rentals to meet increased demand for rental homes and condominiums in SoWal. The two vacation rental companies have been serving South Walton for more than 30 years. Several local businesses have come together in order to gather supplies and raise funds for those directly affected by Hurricane Michael. The Category 4 storm caused an overwhelming amount of damage to Panama City, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach, Lynn Haven, and Apalachicola, Fla. Here in SoWal we are very thankful that we had very little impact from Hurricane Michael. Damage was limited to a relatively small number of trees down causing brief road closures and power out for much of South Walton for a couple of days. Nostalgic and charming, Borago opened its doors in March of 2000 with the focus of bringing fresh, coastal-Italian cuisine in a modern-trattoria style to SoWal. Together creatively since 1992, Chef/Owners Michael Dragon and Mark Anton were both educated at the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University. The most recent SoWal Real Estate Report covers all of Walton County including South Walton real estate activity for August 2018, with statistics for single family homes, townhomes, and condos in Walton County, Florida. Single family closed sales were down 14% for August compared to the same month last year. The number of pending sales for Walton County was up 9.3%. Inventory was up 0.4%, dropping for the 16th month in a row. Median sales price was up 5.7%. Dollar volume decreased 26.8% over last year at $144.8 Million. Continue reading... What do you think? The big fish news the past 10 days has been the Mahi! While Panama city had a touch of Red Tide that seemed to make national news, we have had the prettiest water of the year off Grayton. Clear deep blue "offshore " water within 5 miles of the beach some days. Patchy grass lines that move in and out, no big islands of grass or thick lines but a distinct tide line that has had a lot of Mahi scattered along it. Continue reading... What do you think? The CVHN Big GIve: 2018 Caftans & Cocktails will take place Friday, September 28 from 6:00pm til 10:00pm at Bud & Alley's Restaurant in Seaside with all proceeds benefiting Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN). This past March a new sign appeared outside a familiar Uptown Grayton eatery. “Crackings” is the new name - superior breakfast, brunch, and lunch is their game. When they sold most Another Broken Egg Café’ locations, Clayton Green and his family decided to go in another direction, re-naming the Grayton Beach and Destin locations “Crackings.” Clayton and wife Kristy Green are “all in” with their “new” restaurant which took over where Another Broken Egg Café’ left off.
