Pet Peeve #2 Revised: Pumping one's own gas when it's 40 freakin' degrees!![]()
and it's a wet 40 degrees!!!cuts right through ya'!
It's the thought that counts, but I do understand how you feel. If you can't afford it, you just can't afford it. That's all there is to it. I bake cookies and if they don't like it fine, they don't have to eat them. I gave wine in years past, but I never knew what kind to give. Not everyone likes red like moi.My only pet peeve about Christmas is that I feel guilty because I can't get everyone I know something, but I try anyway. Now that I have a little one I just want to enjoy watching her discover all the joys of the holidays and keep myself from turning into a guilt-ridden-psycho-B*%ch over gifts I can't afford.
Does anyone know how to do this?![]()
It's hard not to get caught up in the commercialism of it all. I worry....Is this enough? Will they like this? No gift is good enough...Did this cost enough? Will they think this is cheesy? Will they re-gift my gift anyway?
Am I a lunatic or do others go thru this as well ??

My pet peeve during the holidays is the business of spending large (and a small amount of money is large when spent carelessly) amounts of money for all these things that no one needs or even wants. Why do we think this is such a necessity just because it is Christmas? The proliferation of ridiculously useless "gift items" on the shelves in stores bears testament to this. Not to mention walking through any store on Christmas Eve and looking at the zoned out facial expressions of people as they search vainly and dispiritedly for some last minute token gift.
Another pet peeve is people who say, "Christmas doesn't mean much to me...it's a holiday for children." Excuse me? The Baby Jesus would have a fit of the vapors if he could see the excess that is committed in his name every year.
I enjoy the holidays as much as the next person but for this. Christmas is a religious ceremony first, and a time to feel appreciation for our loved ones second, and a time to share the generosity of our lives with those less fortunate third. And it is also a great time to enjoy sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles. (And you thought I was a "Bah, Humbug!")![]()

how long ago was it when "service" stations stopped providing service? at least 20 or 25 years ago? I've been pissed off since that day!![]()

I stand, corrected! You were a great friend to help them, with their missing pet search!
When you get serious about a pet, I really hope that you adopt one! There are sooo many wonderful and unwanted pets, that need love and a chance! My son did from the RUFF SHELTER IN FORT WALTON BEACH and Dobi has been a very luvable member, of our family!
If something ever happened to my Yorkie,
I will!
for saving a little soul that has feelings just like us and only wants love, just like us!
And you're right too, I wish that people realized the need, for all of the helpless animals! I've rescued numerous animals and was blessed enough, to be able to track down a little boxer's family! Talk about immediate, gratification! Flyers really can do, the trick! They were so very, thankful! Back in the summer, I rescued a kitten from under a dumpster, at a construction site. The little thing was so panicked, it was so sad. Unfortunately, alot of people don't understand, our need in helping them!
I'll continue to help, whenever and wherever! Be prepared that if ya ride with me and there's an animal in need, we're stopping!Absolutely Diane. Thankfully, so many people are aware and hopefully someday an adopted pet will be more "fashionable" than having an AKC Champion bloodline. My little girl is a rescue and I have never had a dog love me more. Many good people don't get that if we stopped breeding them, we could stop killing them. Good for your son and good for youfor saving a little soul that has feelings just like us and only wants love, just like us!
