Wow! I get it!:D

everyone should try to get to moab at least once. arches national park(which the roadrunner cartoons was styled after), canyonlands national park, slickrock recreation area(some of the best mountainbiking on the planet), the colorado river, newspsper rock(a bit up the road), wall street. all there for your enjoyment.

my dog jessie's ashes need to be placed in the areas mentioned in my previous post before i go, so then we'll be able to enjoy them together.

Those of you who spend a lot of time in Florida, or who are likely to pass away while within the boundaries of our great state, if you wish to be cremated, make sure your family knows it has to be done within 24 hours, or you will by state law get embalmed anyway. There may be some leeway there, but not sure. The exception is if your body is in the possession of the medical examiner's office (think Anna Nicole Smith).

In the early 1900's, or possibly even later, my great-grandmother played the role of Point Washington town undertaker before there was access to a funeral home down here. She would wash and dress the body for burial while my great-grandfather made the pine box. Family stories are that more than one person WOKE UP while being washed. :yikes: There are also remembrances that I really didn't care to hear about "sitting up with the dead."

As a result of being *blessed* with this knowledge, I have a fear of not really being dead and being put into a crematorium. Or buried alive. At least when you get embalmed, if you weren't dead already, you will be.

Ldr74-where Did You Get Your Locket At? My Brother Passed Away In October And I Want To Put Some Of His Cremins In One. Please Reply. Thank You So Much

I bought the locket from the funeral home who handled the cremation. I actually have two- one is a gold heart and the other is a larger piece of jewelry- it is more modern looking- sterling silver. The funeral home put the ashes in the lockets, too.

I know you can google it and find some for sale online. I just didn't want to have to figure out how to get the ashes into the locket - they lockets and their openings (with a screw) are small.

Check with the funeral home who did his cremation- I'm sure they would help you out. I think my locket was $100 or maybe $75? I don't remember. Well worth it though!

I hope you can find what you are looking for!
I'm sorry to hear about your brother.

This is a sad coincidence that you're asking this question because Merman and I have just walked in the house only an hour ago. By all rights we should be in Seagrove Beach right now, but we had to turn around because our children's beloved pet cat Daisy died the day after Christmas. We're going to bury her tomorrow morning in my antique hat box, right under the downspout near the porch. She used to like to sit there and suntan so it's is a good place for her to rest forever. I'm going to dig the hole really deep and lay a heavy piece of slate over the spot and plant a garden around it so that even if we move, no one will disturb her accidentally. I always thought we'd cremate Daisy, as we have with our other pets whom we had to put to sleep in their old age, but Daisy died in our bedroom in Philippa's arms. She died at home so she will stay at home in our garden, close to us.
