A trick I used to use for my kids to check themselves for drinking enough water is that if you have yellow pee or can smell it (assuming no asparagus) you aren't drinking enough.
It takes a couple days of feeling like you are bloated and have to pee all the time, then you get used to it and are much healthier.

Hubby said what to do is to weigh with and without the weights, and if the differential is equal to the weight of the weights, the scale is okay. But I'm scared to get on the scales after my setback last week.
