Son joined the Army in 2007. Just had a baby this year, who has Downs Syndrome. (She knew from genetic testing early on, but very publicly refused to have an abortion. "So he's got on extra chromosome?", she said.) Approval ratings in Alaska bouncing around from 80% to the 90% range.

She fishes, hunts, has 5 kids, is a champion snowmobiler, goes after corruption (especially in the Republican ranks), was 1st runner up in Miss Alaska, and was the team captain on her high school state champion basketball team.

Palin is a staunch pro life conservative who believes in individual freedom.

She's good looking, conservative, athletic, smart, and a DC outsider! Obama is in trouble with this pick!

She will be after working with McCain in the White House for eight years.

All back and forth aside, this was a strong but risky pick. If she comes across well in the debates, she'll peel off hillary voters and other women from Obama. Also, if they win and she's a good leader, she'll be a shoe in for the top spot in 4 or 8 years. This is historic, in the same light as Obama's candidacy is historic. Why don't we give her a chance before we skewering her?

I'm amazed at all the Obama supporters responses here. She's only the second woman to ever run for the White House, and the first didn't make it. Doesn't McCain's choice of her and giving her the chance to make history worth a little praise? Or do we only give praise for historic figures that have a 'D' on the end of their name? We're potentially talking about the first woman V.P., I think that's amazing regardless of the poltics.

Are you sure about that? Perhaps you mean to run for VP. I can think of two females who ran for President, in addition to one running for VP, so technically, she is at least the fourth.
