Thanks for the info. So given that a Democratic Congress has to appoint her VP, should something happen to McCain, don't you think they will select someone with experience, just as Obama has done in selecting his VP? Who knows, they may even choose a Democrat. ???

You should have watched more West Wing. The President makes the appointment, Congress has to confirm.

I love reading through the thread and watching all the Dems scream about how she has no experience. Yet, when asked about the experience of Obama, they seem to just run away.
I'll gladly admit that it doesn't look like Palin or Obama have enough experience to run this country. I'm just glad Palin is only fighting for the VP slot.
.

We should prepare a side by side chart for you Josh. imo it would highlight the stark difference.
We have had months to learn about and become comfortable with Obama's qualifications. He has been highly vetted after his competition with Hillary. He even had a chance to demonstrate his ability to manage finances/economics through how well he ran his campaign. That can now be added to his experience.

You posted on the thread below so surely you have already read Neu!Turismo's .post that I have taken the liberty to repost on this thread for your benefit so you don't have to search the other. Plus, I think it needs to be on every Palin thread that brings up the thought that Obama and Palin are equally qualified. It just doesn't appear to be the case, unless there is still more to Palin than I have read so far.

From the Agree or Disagree- McCain/Palin Question thread:

" There's no irony whatsoever. So Obama's not experienced enough? He has far more credentials and qualifications. He is also intellectual superior to her as well as McCain and vastly more sophisticated and nuanced in his positions and policy.

A little of his experience for the naysayers and misguided:

- B.A. Columbia University, 1983 - majored in political science with specialty in international relations
- worked at Business International Corporation & New York Public Research Interest Group
during his four post B.A. years in NYC
- community organizer, director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago for three years
- J.D. (magna cum laude), Harvard Law School, 1991. President of Harvard Law Review.
- taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years, as a Lecturer for four years (1992?1996), and as a Senior Lecturer for eight years (1996?2004)
- Member of the Illinois Senate from the 13th district, 1997-2004.
- Junior U.S. Senator from Illinois, 2005- present
- associate and counsel for the law firm, Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a Chicago law firm that specialized in civil rights and neighborhood economic development, 1993-2004.
- author of two New York Times bestseller books. And yes, he actually wrote his books. He didn't write them with the help of other authors, like Sen. McCain does with his books. He has and currently serves on multiple boards of directors.

Sen. Obama has served on:

The Senate Committees for Foreign Relations, Environment and Public Works and Veterans' Affairs Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
He is the Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs.

I think it's safe to say the Sen. Obama surpasses Gov. Palin in the "experience" department.

I believe the Democrats have their man for the Oval Office." - Neu!Turismo

I'm sorry, but campaigning for a few months doesn't quite mean experience in my book. :dunno:

This isn't experience.
- worked at Business International Corp
One Year on the job as a junior publisher?
oration & New York Public Research Interest Group
during his four post B.A. years in NYC
What?
- community organizer, director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago for three years
One step above a PTA mom
- J.D. (magna cum laude), Harvard Law School, 1991. President of Harvard Law Review.
Degrees do not constitute experience in any form or fashion
- taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years, as a Lecturer for four years (1992?1996), and as a Senior Lecturer for eight years (1996?2004)
- Member of the Illinois Senate from the 13th district, 1997-2004.
Here's some experience in the State Senate
- Junior U.S. Senator from Illinois, 2005- present
3 years as a Senator
- associate and counsel for the law firm, Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a Chicago law firm that specialized in civil rights and neighborhood economic development, 1993-2004.
This has nothing to do with leading a country.
- author of two New York Times bestseller books. And yes, he actually wrote his books. He didn't write them with the help of other authors, like Sen. McCain does with his books. He has and currently serves on multiple boards of directors.

All I'm saying is that he has 7 years in a STATE senate and 3 years as a Senator. That's not much different if you look at Palin's experience actually working in the governement.

Perhaps it is refreshing to the constituents that their candidate is not a slave to governement experience, hence.....being able to change what is broken with fresh ideas and perspective.....and not being stuck in the rut we have been in.
