Good to hear. Just maybe we can protect parts of the South Pacific before they hit some sort of environmental crisis point.

The irony is that the incoming Bush administration griped long and hard when Clinton did something very similar with Western lands as he was leaving office in late 2000/early 2001.

Hopefully he saves the gorillas next.

He won't do it in the next week and a half, but, maybe Bush after being POTUS, will completely metamorphisize, and be to natural habitats what Jimmy Carter is to the human kind. NOT GO AWAY Bush, but, just maybe... Go Bush?

I threw up a little when I read that title. This will be the sort of thing that is up front and on display at his Presidential library, his other failed hair brained schemes will be relegated to a broom closet in the basement.

He sent 3,000+ American soldiers to there deaths, but he saved nature too!

Bush to Designate Marine Sanctuaries

By DINA CAPPIELLO

WASHINGTON (Jan. 6) - The home of a giant land crab, a sunken island ringed by pink-colored coral, and equatorial waters teeming with sharks and other predators are being designated national marine monuments by President George W. Bush in the largest marine conservation effort in history.

The three areas -- totaling some 195,274 square miles -- include the Mariana Trench and the waters and corals surrounding three uninhabited islands in the Northern Mariana Islands, Rose Atoll in American Samoa and seven islands strung along the equator in the central Pacific Ocean.

Just groping for a legacy?...somewhere that the oil companies can't drill as cost-efectively as the Gulf anyway. "Bush the environmentalist", the definition of oxymoron, or maybe just mo...nah I'll just leave it there. I'm tired of talking about him. Those who like him will keep liking him. Those who don't are glad there are only 2 weeks left.

4221 deaths so far...over 21,000 injured. That's just Americans.

So, I am guessing that as of Jan 21, the tally will start for Obama. :dunno:
