The title of this thread makes about as much sense as saying W is one of Americas' greatest civil rights pioneers since his performance in office was so poor it's because of him America voted the first Black man to be POTUS.

What are you guys talking about? The Iraq war ended two years ago. I remember the Democrats telling me that as soon as they got in there, two years ago, they were bringing the troops home and ending the thing.

Being the majority in Congress doesn't give you total control to pass a bill no matter how much you want to. They'd never get Bush to sign off on it.

Just groping for a legacy?...somewhere that the oil companies can't drill as cost-efectively as the Gulf anyway. "Bush the environmentalist", the definition of oxymoron, or maybe just mo...nah I'll just leave it there. I'm tired of talking about him. Those who like him will keep liking him. Those who don't are glad there are only 2 weeks left.
Correction. Those who like him are also glad there are only 2 weeks left. If he ever did anything good many would not give him credit for it anyway. I only wonder who you are going to have to kick around after he is gone. BTW, I am not a great Bush fan but he gets more than his share of criticism on this board.

Gingrich seems poised to make a comeback, and he's kind of fun to kick because he manages to fight back in interesting ways.

I agree he is much more interesting than Bush and if the Republicans had put his "Contract with America" into effect instead of totally ignoring it, they wouldn't be in the predicament they are in.

I hate to remind you of this, but Congress can pass laws without the Presidents signature.

2/3 majority vote on both sides allows the law to pass without a President's signature.

Ask me about W's actual crayon he use. :D

Bush has been the laughing stock of the world in a way that his father and Reagan never were and never would have been - he is thought of poorly because of the decisions he made, the incompetence he demonstrated and the arrogance he has.

And BTW: the views many people have of him have absolutely nothing to do with his being a Republican (although by many accounts he is hardly worthy of that title given his out of control spending).

I have my fingers crossed that you won't be saying this about Obama in a few years. :D
