Sorry, I don't have a link - saw it the old fashioned way, on the TV! Hoped that if I mentioned it, one of the more savvy folk could find it - it's not exactly PG rated though.

this one seems kind of tame:

is this the one you were thinking of?

That's why I'm glad we elected a self-assured president who doesn't appear to have any chips on his shoulder, insecurities, or demons from his past. I firmly believe that the root cause of all war stems from leaders with inferiority complexes and/or vindictiveness. Of course there are times when any country must defend itself, but what we have seen for the last eight years is beyond the pale.

You forgot daddy issues.

Go after the people/terrorist group ACTUALLY involved, send in our special ops, then go on the television and say "these people are terrorists and this is what happens to people who attack the USA and kill innocent civilians", and show the footage of us blowing them up w/ a smart bomb.

Maybe say something about how "they betrayed the teachings of the Koran" to contain any outrage from the Arab world.

Do you think anyone would have objected if we had done that instead of invading Iraq (where Saddam kept Al Queda at bay because they threatened his power BTW)?

You don't have to tell the Muslim world that he has strayed from the teachings of the Koran, they already know that. Ask any practicing Muslim.

I think a teacher worth their salt would explain to the students that humans have different skill sets that make them unique. The fact that a person is uncomfortable speaking in public does not necessarily make the person a doofus any more than the fact that someone who speaks eloquently should be identified as snobbish and elite. Some kids excel at math and science and struggle mightily with reading, spelling and speech. Teachers than do the best they can to improve weaknesses and maximize strengths. I know some brilliant people who cause me to cringe when I hear them speak in public. So what, they're still brilliant. Since I have school aged children, I'll say a little prayer tonight that you can come up with a better response for your students than the "I hate Bush" posted above. You're students deserve it.

I'm sorry, other than inheritance, what skill set does Bush have?

I heard several comments on TV yesterday that Bush should be sent to prison.

Do you want Bush sent to prison?

He's not gonna go to prison, if he were he would have also been impeached. I'll bet he's not going to do much traveling abroad outside of Saudi Arabia though. There are still countries that would love to arrest him for war crimes.

I should clarify my earlier post. President-elect Obama uses multiple uh's and uhm's when not speaking from a prepared speech. I think we can agree he is, nevertheless, successful. ;-)

While Obama does use uh's and um's he's doing so around sentences that contain real words and ideas. Bush's uh's and um's were around open ended sentences with words that didn't exist until he spoke them.

Now we get to start worrying about what's coming next. I keep reading these figures on how much debt we're going to take on, and it just blows my mind. Politicians have been telling us for 30 years that increased growth will pay for the debt, but we've had one moderate boom and two bubbles in 30 years and the debt is still growing, now faster than ever. It's so frustrating. At some point somebody is going to have to stand up and say enough is enough. But here we go again, just like before.

So you're anti tax and anti debt, please explain how the debt will be paid off?

Right here!

How do you prevent adding debt to your bottom line? How do you pay off debt? :dunno:

The federal government rakes in trillions a year in revenue, and still manages to ring up billions in debt. Don't you see a little something out of wack with that?

As I have talked to friends during the past few weeks, here are some of the moves their private employers have made.....

-cut back on company's 401-k contributions
-laid off employees
-cut compensation
-increased health insurance premiums
-increased copays
-stopped providing styrofoam coffee cups in break room
-communicated to employees that the company expected higher productivity.

These are the sorts of things that private employers do when times are tough.

By contrast, the government threatens to cut back on services. Education is a good scare technique.

When there is no profit motive, there is no realistic benchmark and government cannot comprehend that cutting back on spending could be a good thing. It is all about revenue. :sosad:

No, no, no, back over here! You side stepped that one.

My point is that without massive cutting the only way to even come to a break even point taxes have to be raised.

Personally I'm all about military cutting. Before everyone gets in a huff I'd like to point out the Naval Mine Unit over in PCB. Can anyone tell me the last time a Naval ship was either threatened or hit with a mine?

I was going to answer with George W. Bush but then I reread it and realized you said "mine" not "mime".
