NoHall I hear you but Military institutions and Ivy League schools aren't the only place for kids. Let's give them all a wide breadth. Let em be who they are gonna be. There are many a fine school that produce many a fine academic out there.

I would venture to guess that there are a lot of teachers who do not belong to Unions here in Walton county, as a right to work State you don't have to join or pay dues and anything negotiated by Unions, non union folks benefit from it as well as union folks do. As for getting rid of bad teachers, I don't think they have had that issue here, but I can't say that for sure. Again your belief that Unions are the problem is still without merit IMO. How much should you pay an educator/teacher in their first year? How much should you pay an educator/ teacher with 30 years in the classroom. How much should we pay for someone with an advanced degree teaching in classroom? How much should we pay an individual who sucks as a teacher but has the talent and ability to manage? I'm just curious seeing how you seem to have the answers.
I think pay should be based on experience, education level, and performance. The issue I have with the teachers unions is that they often stand against reform that could improve the system. I don't feel they act in the students best interests, and that to me, is wrong.
