If Bernie Madoff is on house arrest I think the guy should be allowed to post bail. Charge him, try him fairly, etc. but I do not believe that he should be in prison for 2 months awaiting trial.

If he threw his shoe at his Iraqi neighbor (and missed) would he be in prison all this time awaiting trial (or would he even have been charged)?

I think too highly of my shoes to throw them at anyone.

:rotfl: You bragger you.

No brag, just fact. In fact, they are a liability. It is very hard to find shoes in my size and they tend to cost a fortune. I guess because so many cows are involved.

I understand completely. My son can rarely find his size in a store either. It drives him crazy.

From an AP story.

The contrast in the two quoted sentences defines irony.

BAGHDAD ? The Iraqi journalist who threw shoes at former President George W. Bush will face trial Feb. 19 on the original charge of assaulting a foreign leader, a judicial official said Sunday.

The case became a focus for Iraqis and others in the Muslim world who resent the U.S. invasion and occupation.

The shoe thrower's brother had this to say:

"He has been deprived of his simplest rights."
