I wonder this. Are American journalists so undisiplined that they would ever throw a shoe at a foreign dignitary? I certainly hope not though with our present news media one can never be certain.

I think Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh would make quite the formidable group on WWE.

Andy,

It is extremely doubtful that American journalists would ever do such a thing (despite any negative feelings you have for them).

BUT...

This is not because they are more disciplined than their Iraqi counterparts. It is because our journalists don't live in a country that was attacked by foreigners who after overthrowing the government forgot to follow through with infrastructure and bare necessities.

Imagine if the reality for US journalists was that they were in a constant state of danger, their family members were being killed/kidnapped, they had no running water or electricity. They had no fame or fortune. The last thing on their mind is winning a Pulitzer.

Now put them in a room with the leader of the country who invaded/occupied their land and hasn't quite fixed the mess.

Is it so hard now to imagine Katie Couric lobbing a high heel at someone if all things were equal?

:dunno:

Geo, bless you. Have you ever served one day in the service of your country in any capacity? Your take on our standing in the world shows the universal attitude of those who don't know what they have and are are reticent to recognize others contributions to it. May you always be able to sit comfortably in your abode and let the rest of the world go by. You're entitled to your opinion and me to mine. Obviously the twain shall never meet but I shall continue to confront your irrational, IMO, ideals anytime they conflict directly with mine. Have a good day.

And bless you, Andy.

I am the first non-Marine college educated male in my family. Thanks for serving so that I was free to choose not to serve. Had I been born during your generation, I would have served willingly a worthwhile cause. Had you been born in mine you would have been forced just as me to choose between not serving or serving causes you deem not to be worthwhile (e.g. Iraq)

I find you irrational at times as well.

Hopefully, next time you disagree with something I say you will share with me your ideas as to why rather than hiding behind your service and attempting to shame me because I chose not to serve.

I will be as respectful to you as you are to me. I believe we have a lot to learn from each other.

Good day, sir.

Geo

P.S. What is a twain?

The only problem with this suggestion is that violator isn't in jail on US soil....nor is he on US soil via the US Embassy, right? I haven't followed, so I really don't know.

I agree with you in that the punishment is excessive, but do we have all of the facts of that country's judicial system? Maybe he couldn't post bail.

P.S. I thought it was a funny clip and great reflexes of the President. Oh, how I wish everyday in politics could bring a smile and chuckle to my face!! :D

The Chinese person who got a shoe chucked at them asked for clemency for the offender, too bad Bush can't be the bigger person too!

Andy, just because we recognize how awful someone else's life is as a result of our country's actions doesn't mean we have no respect or gratitude for our military. I whomped Sowalgayboi w/ his own shoe because I was so frustrated w/ him one night. Imagine what I would have done when faced with the much greater provocation Geo cited - millions of refugees, over 100,000 civilian deaths, no infrastructure, civil war.................
