I firmly believe that at some point during a pregnancy the fetus becomes a life regardless of how the mother feels. (That point of course should be defined by science, not religion.) At which point the child is entitled to the same Constitutional Rights we all enjoy, including the right to life.

On the flip side, I'm a proponent of abortion rights early on in a pregnancy, but for me that right is convoluted by Roe v Wade which IMHO was unconstitutional and should be repealed. I wish this country could straighten out the abortion mess, because until we do, we will have to endure tragic stories like this one. The image of a living breathing new born swept off a plastic chair into a biohazard trash bag and tossed out back legally sends shivers down my spine. I really can not in any way connect with anyone who could justify such an act.

Unfortunately , this is human behavior. Ancient cultures suffered from the same behaviors. Some legally, some not. The question is; what kind of culture do WE want to be? How do we want to be remembered?

Not this way, I hope.

Well you're a woman, how do you feel about this? Should Williams have the right to terminate her pregnancy at 23 weeks or is she murdering her child? If the former, the lack of murder charges against all parties involved makes sense.

I think that she shouldn't be having an abortion at that stage of pregnancy (but I don't know the details of the case so there could be a legitimate reason for it), that the clinic she was at was grossly negligent, that it's a blessing that someone this dumb isn't raising a kid, and that anyone who puts a live baby (of any stage of viability) in a plastic bag should be taken out back and beaten.

That said, I think opponents of abortion should take a good hard look at WHY a teenager was having a late term abortion in a third world clinic instead of using this cluster as an excuse to outlaw a standard medical procedure that typically does not resemble this scenario in any way.

I don't have a problem with a woman getting an abortion early in her pregnancy - sheet happens and having a baby is not always the right option for someone. It's a hard decision to make and politics and other people's judgment don't help the situation. It should be a decision between the woman and her doctor.

If people are against abortion, they should do something to eliminate the REASONS for getting an abortion, not harass women seeking medical care and doctors doing their job, resort to violence, or legislate medical care based on religion or personal feelings.

I don't have a uterus or a vagina so I know this thread isn't for me. As far as the rest of you that don't have those parts come on, IT IS none of your business.
