I firmly believe that at some point during a pregnancy the fetus becomes a life regardless of how the mother feels. (That point of course should be defined by science, not religion.) At which point the child is entitled to the same Constitutional Rights we all enjoy, including the right to life.
On the flip side, I'm a proponent of abortion rights early on in a pregnancy, but for me that right is convoluted by Roe v Wade which IMHO was unconstitutional and should be repealed. I wish this country could straighten out the abortion mess, because until we do, we will have to endure tragic stories like this one. The image of a living breathing new born swept off a plastic chair into a biohazard trash bag and tossed out back legally sends shivers down my spine. I really can not in any way connect with anyone who could justify such an act.
Unfortunately , this is human behavior. Ancient cultures suffered from the same behaviors. Some legally, some not. The question is; what kind of culture do WE want to be? How do we want to be remembered?
Not this way, I hope.
