I am still trying to wrap my mind about the idea that someone would go on vacation, rent a completely furnished house, and then complain that the kid's shams didn't match well enough.

I could see noticing it, I could see commenting on it - if it was representative of the house decor or poor housekeeping, but .............

Basically, I just keep thinking "damn, that person needs a vacation and a sphincter relaxer".

Scooter, I used to think the same thing. Until, I owned rental property. Don't get me wrong, 99% of mu guests are lovely, gracious, dear people. Then you get that 1% that will drive you insane. Case in point. I received an e-mail last week from a "lady" that is renting my house in June. She had been in Ft. Walton for a baseball or softball tournament and had taken upon herself to dive over and "inspect" (her words) my property. It's not unusual for renters to ask for the address of the property, so I had provided that. However, she did not make arrangements with me or my pmc to "drop by". She went in my back yard, complained there was "trash/ debris" in my pool, the grill was dirty. and my grass looked unkempt. This coming on the heels of one day that there had been 6" of rain, and a good bit of rain every day that week.

Naturally, there was debris in the pool due to the wind, my grill was covered up at the time, and our yard maintenance folks had called us to let us know until the yard dried a bit they would do more harm than good on the lawn.

The guest that were staying in our home were not very appreciative to arrive back from lunch and find 4 people tromping through the yard, peering into the pool, and sitting on the lanai

I answered her as politely as I could muster, and let her know that since she wasn't booked until June that I was relatively certain that the house would be up to her standards. I also let her know that I was not at all happy that she had not arranged to have someone from my pmc meet her, and address any questions or concerns.

Yes, I know that most folks come to the beach to relax, slow down, kick back and unwind. Then there is the 1% that really should save their money. Maybe start a fund to have the broomstick so firmly planted removed, so they can learn to relax and enjoy life.

...I was too overserved to even look for the burn last night. Bed still works, though. Amazed at all the stories here...TFT...BURNED blinds??? Someone must have been trying to sneak a smoke! gttbm...sounds like this renter needs to be turned loose! :roll:

Sometimes, I think our wonderful housekeeping staff is overserved when I walk in and see how they have placed stuff...like the furniture! Makes me wonder how the guests must have left the place! But, it sure is good to be home.

...thanks. jdarg tells me it is best to just hunker down and stay indoors until the locusts fly away. I do love that the local economy is getting a boost, though!
