you're right. I can't be.

can you pass it on to them to clean up their FN mess, then?

Pass on to a bunch of fugitive illegals trying to escape from the law that they should be more environmentally friendly. Yeah right. I think they have higher priorities.

Here are two seperate attempts at a funny response-

1) They were going to put up signs but Republicans made a stink that they could only be in English rendering them ineffective.

2) Walton county should donate our unused big blue monsters to the cause. Imagine what the illegals would think when they were greeted with 20 foot signs that say-

Welcome to the United States. If you must come in illegally, please don't litter.

Maybe we can get the turtle lady get out there and start slashing.

the mess they are leaving are indeed back packs. clothes, water bottles, food wrapers, soiled diapers and last but not least lots and lots of human feces. i lived in arizona and the desert is amazingly beautiful. its a shame what they are doing to it. can't imagine if florida was butted up to the mexican border and the federal government allowed this to happen to our area-----this just shows the respect the immigrants have for the usa. its disgusting.

It's not just the immigrants. Look at our beaches in the middle of summer.

It is disgusting. But it has nothing to do with disrespect or lack thereof.

Irrespective of how you feel about the illegals coming here, their journey is a very rough one. Many people die trying to get here. Odds are they have a choice between ditching their litter/gear or risking getting caught. It's an ugly part of their survival- not an outward sign of disrespect. 2 cents...

Maybe if we just could convince them that the debris was obstructing Gila Monsters from reaching their nesting sites they might change their ways.

If it makes you feel better I pooped on Canada and left some clothes and other items scattered around up there before I crossed the border.

You go, Scooterbug!

I have mixed emotions about illegal immigrants. Probably because I have known several, but two whom I am very close.

A Brit who married so he wouldn't be deported. To this day he refuses to become a US Citizen, but is here as a Permanent Resident Alien. A Mexican who came here legally for a decade, but then chose the illegal route because he wanted to be here permanently so badly. He is now in the process of becoming a US Citizen.

If I saw that mess in Arizona, I would probably throw my weight around and get rather vocal with some Mexicans. I have less and less patience these days with 'entitlement mentality' and while arguably they had a rough trip to get here, they still got here illegally. Do they expect us to hand them a trash sac? Geez! For the love of Pedro!

Seriously though - I realize illegal immigration is a major problem, and I think we need to find a REAL solution sooner rather than later, but on the other hand I find it hard to get condemn people who are trying to get a better life for them and their families - even though I know that isn't fair to others who can't so easily get here or who follow the rules.

My ancestors came here because they didn't like the direction things were going in their country (and boy were they right as that cluster turned into a world war) and because this was a land of opportunity. I think one of the greatest things about the US is that if you are born here, you are a citizen. I don't want that to change.

This isn't the first time in our history that a large group of people want to come here because their life in their homeland is horrible and it won't be the last. I would like this to be a time where our solution is not an embarrassment like earlier immigration restrictions and laws.

So HOW do we deal with it fairly, legally, and ALL OVER THE US?

Building a giant physical and/or social fence and discriminating against people isn't a solution for me - on any level.

I know there are a lot of people out there who deal with this problem, know more about it than I do, and have good logical suggestions. What are they?

P.S. I hate litter and litterbugs, and while the pictures posted here were taken by a militia member w/ an agenda, they do pretty accurately show how bad the mess is in the park.
