Nope. Round brushing gets it laying in the direction I want it to go, and gives it nice lift... Flat ironing smooths it and makes it shiny and lustrous!
Together, it makes for some pretty spectacular FABULOUSITY!
Fun fact - grey/white hair is God's way of making your wrinkles show up less as you age. Dark hair accentuates them more, which is why we go grey/white.
It depends on your hair. I know some women who have grey hair, own it, and look amazing. I think brunettes can more easily pull off good grey.
Aunt Scooterbug's hairdresser threatened her with violence if she dyed her fantastic grey hair. Both she and Grandma Scooterbug have dark brown hair that started to get grey streaks towards the front and then uniformed added more - so it's almost like grey high and low lights.
I have colored my hair blonde since I was 15. Mom thought her blondeness was superior.I definitely see some naturally grey hair on middle age women that looks terrific on them. but, that is not often. mostly, we just see hair that is dyed. and then the hair that isn't dyed is sometimes looking kind of washed out or has a weird texture - like it needs some kind of different care to keep it looking its best.
I really would like to let it all hang out.
DD, you and I are so much alike I swear! I have always loved big hair! The bigger the better! I work hard to get my hair big. I tried the "straight" look, with the flat iron, but I just can't do it. Give me my BIG curling Iron and put some curls in my do. I haven't had a perm in a few years. I used to get two a year. Naturally my hair is very thin and straight. I have to work hard to make it big. I am so used to "doing it".
I am a natural blonde and swore I would never color my hair. Well, as I aged it started looking so dishwater dull, and getting darker every year, and the gray started showing up. So, last year for the first time in my life I had it highlighted. I love it. The only hard thing is having to keep this up. Don't like that part.
OH, the things we do for vanity.
I am convinced that Carly Simon wrote "Your So Vain" for me. I am, I admit it. I have always had a thing about my hair looking good. The rest of me can completely fall apart, but I will have nice hair, dammit.![]()
I hope I gray like my mother, 84 and minimal little gray hair, simply amazing! As for big hair, I look much big with some lift.
Anyone brave enough to put a pic of the great 80's look they had? My scanner does not work or I would go first!
I got rid of my big hair (think Barbra Streisand in "A Star Is Born" but shoulder length) in about 1981. Here's how I wore it after that. BTW I stopped dying my hair while trying to get pregnant and during the pregnancy to avoid harming Beach Jacket. I just happened to be at my desk with this photo on it and the printer/scanner next to me.
But I do like big hair too. It works especially in Texas!,
