Just in from Ripley's believe it or not.....
Miss Kitty canoed up to a glacier and DID NOT fall in!!!! I kept my big mouth shut when they asked if any one had experience. So, we did a high speed cat, saw about 60 sea lions on a rock, got out, got on a bus, put on rubber boots* and a life vest and went hiking (reminded me of our trip to GBSP with SJ and the Mers) and then got in the canoe and paddled up to a glacier and saw where this particular river started from it. I picked up a chunk of the ice from the glacier and ate it! The water temp was around 34 degrees. The absence of city sound is astonishing and probably my favorite new thing. Just sitting in this canoe hearing rushing water, leaves rustling in the wind and rocks falling off the ice was something I want to always remember. That and all the exceptional people that live here and love this place. Mr. K and I then walked around the town of Skagway and tried to figure out what all these people were buying.
Tomorrow is another opportunity for a boat...this time we are salmon fishing in the ocean near Ketchikan. It is our last stop before we head for the Inside Passage and on to Vancouver. We fly home Wednesday with many memories and back to the heat....and MOLLY!
*I have asked for some of these boots for my birthday. They are so awesome and make me feel like an outdoorsperson.
