For some reason (maybe withdrawal symptoms from college football?) we decided to try to see every movie nominated for Best Picture. We got DVDs of most of them. Here they are:
"The Artist" Thomas Langmann, Producer -- have it, haven't seen it yet
"The Descendants" Jim Burke, Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, Producers -- have it, we both cried
"Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" Scott Rudin, Producer -- we haven't gotten that yet
"The Help" Brunson Green, Chris Columbus and Michael Barnathan, Producers -- watched it last night -- loved it -- we cried
"Hugo" Graham King and Martin Scorsese, Producers -- we haven't gotten that yet
"Midnight in Paris" Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum, Producers -- ditto
"Moneyball" Michael De Luca, Rachael Horovitz and Brad Pitt, Producers -- really enjoyable, but it won't win
"The Tree of Life" Sarah Green, Bill Pohlad, Dede Gardner and Grant Hill, Producers
"War Horse" Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, Producers -- have it, haven't seen it yet
We also got "My Week with Marilyn" but haven't seen it yet.
I'm really surprised that "The Bridesmaids" got nominated for anything. In my opinion it was just middle-school potty humor, just gross.
From the movies we've seen so far, I think "The Descendents" should get best picture. But we've got several more to watch.
Any of you movie buffs out there have any opinions on any of the nominees for best picture, best actor, best actress, etc.?
