I watched AI for the first time last night- the last 30 minutes or so. Taylor IS very good. Elliot has the charisma of a toad and bored me to tears watching him. His voice is fine, but there was nothing about his voice that would make me look up from the newspaper and pay attention. Katherine is yet another Mariah Carey-like caterwauler- I have never liked that slick-produced wailing stuff. After someone has bent 5 notes in 5 seconds, I'm done-just sing the damm song already.

I did figure out the reason that the show never grabbed me- that Vegas-style set is a real turn off. I would have really enjoyed hearing Taylor sing in a dumpy beer joint.

I'm grumpy today- can ya tell?:D
Oh, Jenay, you made me laugh this morning! I'm sad about Elliott; I know he'll go home tonight, last night just wasn't a good night for him. I actually find him to be a fairly accomplished vocalist--great talent, low on the caterwauling scale.
I thought Taylor really shone last night; great night for him.
Kat is extremely self-indulgent, that gets on my nerves. And whomever thought she needed all those hair extensions should be fired.

I'm with you jdarg - AI never grabbed me either. Last season's 'Rock Star INXS' was a much better production imho. Stay tuned for the new one coming soon. While Elliot may lack stage presence, I think he would be a much better recording artist than Taylor who's theatrics are way too over-the-top for my tastes. Here in Brmingham, Taylor (and that rediculous 'Soul Patrol') is over-hyped and over-rated. I like to listen to music VS watch it, and I think Elliott is a stronger vocalist than Taylor. Unfortunately, Katherine's style is what's in vogue right now. So she will no doubt do well regardless of how she places in the competition.

I have a VERY strong feeling Katherine will win. She has the type of voice (the caterwalling) that sells. Plus, she's beautiful, cute, slightly ditzy. (Plus her dad cries everytime she sings.)

Elliott is definately good considering he has probably never had voice lessons (I don't think, tho not sure) or much experience and he's the underdog. He seems genuinely sweet, sincere, and he's going to come out way ahead because of AI.

Taylor will come out ahead too. And probably MUCH better if he dosen't win AI. His genre is definately soul. (& I'm gonna slap Mr. Johnrudy if he gripes about Taylor's moves again! He's just feeling the music.)

I'm with Mr. Johnrudy :clap_1:

Taylor can't stay still long enough to focus on the lyrics :bang:

Don't clicky if you don't want to know who may get kicked off tonight!

I "clickied"! That seems to fit with this thread, as to reports of who SoWal-ers were able to get through to vote for.

No question that Taylor was hot last night. I loved "You are so beautiful".
Great smile too.

I'm with jdarg about Elliott. Great singer but he doesn't reach out and grab my attention. :dunno:

Same here. My husband said he sounds like one of the people that sing behind the scenes like for Dancing with the Stars or Name that Tune or something.

Yes, I have to admit I've lost the last shred of support for that girl. Every move is calculated, over-trained, so L.A--if they dare criticize her, she gets indignant and her parents complain to the judges during commercials-- that bugs me. Last year's Carrie wasn't like that, she was just honest & pure talent.

Taylor was the man last night. His charisma was as big as a whale. Didnt expect to be as impressed by "you are so beautiful" (tired, obvious choice, Randy)...but MAN, he nailed it. As he did with Something a few weeks back too...hooray for local boy-done-good! So proud of him.

Elliott..oh my poor sweet Elliott. What happened to you last night? He just flailed. He was so nervous. I was so hoping for a Taylor/Elliott All-Underdog Finale. Would have been a fun night. I'm glad he made it to top 3 though, and I fully expect him to have a good career ahead.

Hm...after checking...really, the results are statistically too close to call. Dialidol indicates the bottom 2, but the margin of error could swing it either way. There's a clear front runner though!

kb, I agree with every word! So glad you mentioned Kat's reaction to her critiques--it was especially evident last night, and I honestly found that repulsive.
