I have not taken any to college, but as a former sorority chef, most kids adjust just fine, its the parents that have a hard time....;-)
Good luck, and enjoy your new life!

My perfect beach
Our "only" starts high school this year, and I can't bear the thought of college yet (well, most days anyway). I feel for you, MM. This is a big milestone for both of you.

The anticipation for the actual moment is almost more than I can stand!!!! I bought her a beautiful necklace, put $50 in the jewelry box, and a coin purse filled with quarters--oh, and a heartfelt note which I wrote while crying. I'm giving her this as we bid farewell, and I'm going to tell her to open it after I leave. I will miss her laughter, her funny ways and all that, but I am genuinely excited for her. It's a beautiful campus, and she's in a newer dorm with a bath for 2. I just hope she doesn't do some of the stuff that I did when I went off to school......

430 miles

I was 420 miles from home went I went off to college. It is a great distance from the student's perspective. You have the security blanket knowing that it is close enough to get home or have someone come and get you if needed, and far enough away that someone can't drop in. ;-)

Good luck!!

I understand your feelings, having taken our youngest son to college last August. (Our oldest son is married.) We took him to college, helped him get moved in (along with six other friends, family), then took off for our condo at High Pointe. I cried on the way down to the beach. Once we got there, however, it was relaxing and a good time for my husband and I to consider the next chapter of our life. He's been home this summer and we will do the same thing again next Sunday. This time I don't think it won't be so difficult. It's surprising how the food remains in the refrigerator and the laundry doesn't pile up as quickly when he's in college. Ha! We love our son and really enjoy being around him. Plan a new adventure! Thoughts and prayers for you on that day.
