Oh, I remember that day so well! I took my movie camera to the bus stop, and as it went by, I waved, said goodbye to MoMo Jr., and choked-up crying as I said it! Preserved forever on video!

Advice for moving your kid to college:

1) You will be one of MANY unloading/moving, so pack everything IN something for easy unloading/transport. Loose or last minute items are easy to lose/forget in the hubub.

2) The elevators will be full/broken so you are better off taking the stairs. My parents and I had everything moved into my dorm room before most people made their first trip in the elevator. Plan to be a sherpa and dress/pack accordingly.

3) Bring some cold drinks/munchies. You'll want them after #2 and it's a good way to meet other parents/kids.

4) Remember that the slowpoke in the SUV ahead of you is the parent of someone your child is living with for YEARS and behave accordingly.

5) Leave the pets at home. They'll just be in the way/in a hot car.

6) The earlier you get there, the better the situation will be. It will also allow you time to assemble a loft, hook up the TV, run to the local store for that must have item your child didn't know they needed etc.

7) Clear out once you've moved them in so they can adjust and meet people and your husband can cry in the privacy of the car.

8) A set once a week time for a phone call is a good way to catch up/stay in contact w/o being intrusive/overprotective.

9) Remember that any minor issues they are upset about are usually quickly forgotten while you continue to worry - they are off having funn while you fret.

Mission accomplished!! She's moved in, making new friends, and having a ball! School starts in a week, so they are having "Dawg Daze" this week--lots of activities, free food, etc. The hardest part was figuring out where everything should go. Two desks, 2 chairs, 2 beds, an armoire, full-size fridge w/ micro on top, 2 dressers, and 6 people in the room w/ all that stuff!!! Lots of moving and rearranging was going on. I kept it together when we said goodbye, but it wasn't easy. She was so excited when we pulled into campus that I thought she was going to burst! It was a BIG day for us. I only wish our dog could understand, because he keeps looking for her out the window. I miss her, but I'm proud we got her where she wanted to go.
