OMG!!!!!!!! That is the sweetest offer EVER! How very nice of you Sunnydaze! When I read this I actually "squelled!"!!!:clap_1: :clap_1: :clap_1:

That would be so wonderful to have shells like that in our new fireplace. I am actually going to go to the house when the "artist" (that's what I call him) does it and place some special items in it myself. I collected three bags bags from St. Vincents and had more from my collection over the years....but...it is not near enough, just thought it would be special to have some that really meant something to me. Your offer is so kind and generous, it will make it that much more special. I am also placing in the fireplace a starfish that was my grandmother's (she picked it up when she was young) and some seaglass she had. I CAN'T WAIT!

Sunnydaze, Thank You so very much. I truly believe that SoWal brings out some of the best people life has to offer! AND....I am soooo envious! I must plan a trip to Sanibel! I would absolutely OD!!!!! I am not a "shell snob" I would be proud to have ANY of them. They are all incredibly beautiful.

I will be more than glad to pay the shipping on it. Will pm you for details.

Thank you again for thinking of such a special offer.

You do know that you must come to the next SoWal Soiree, because I am doing brunch at the new house for everyone! Ok, Ok....Allifunn is gonna help with the food so don't worry....we will have some very good eats. :D (the only reason I have a kitchen is because it comes with the house)

supermom26.2;196442[/B]]Those are SOOOOOO Beautiful! If any of my property ever sells, and we get the opportunity to have a fireplace, I will do a shell fireplace too! I love how it connects you to the beach. I was thinking about Paula, curled up in front of her fireplace, with her tea and scones (or maybe it was wine) and the emotional connection of it all. I miss not having a fireplace!
Your collection is fabulous!
Beachbummett, I would love to see how you do your fireplace. Are you doing it yourself or do you have someone doing it for you?[/QUOTE]

we are having it done, the frame has already been built, it goes all the way up the wall and has a hearth, we are also putting the shells on the front and sides of the hearth! you are more than welcome to come see it anytime, while it is starting, or under construction, or we can sit in front of it when it is done and curl up like paula with tea and scones...well, actually i would be the one with the wine!:D

Sunny Daze, your shells are gorgeous. I have never been to Sanibel, but I guess I need to plan a trip there. I knew Sanibel was known for its great shelling, but you posted a picture of a hugh mound of shells, is this typical?
And, btw, how sweet of you to offer BB some shells for her fireplace.

The mounds are typical if the moon is right, the tides are just right, and if a good storm has stirred up the water that allows the waves to bring them in. I have many other photos of shells and mounds, though I only posted a few.

The best shelling is on the west end of the island, in the residential area. The way the island is shaped, the great shells come ashore on West Gulf Drive. My favorite area, with huge mounds at times, has no condos or cottages, so I get good pickings! Too, using a net when shells are really rolling in will catch some goodies!

BB, I am going to be throwing away some shells, shall I go ahead and send them to you along with some really good shells? I assume that some of the imperfections on many shells can be hidden within the fireplace. I would rather you pick through my discards and find some you like, than for me to toss some and they would have made the grade for you!

I have TOO many shells already, within 4 trips!

Would love, love, love to return to SoWal! I was staying with friends in Sanibel, so I saved tons of money without having to pay for lodging or a rental car. I have been permanently laid off from work, therefore, I was able to enjoy a few weeks away (looking for a position in between though:D). I still think SoWal has the most beautiful beaches though. No comparison to Sanibel. It's the island feel and the shelling I love about Sanibel.
