Cetaphil is a fantastic substitute for soap and it is used by all the top beauties, apparently. Only $8 for a 16-oz. plastic bottle and you can purchase it at practically any supermarket or drugstore. It's a white bottle with a royal blue label. I stopped using soap on my face when I began using this stuff, which moisturizes as it cleans, and my skin has never looked better. I wouldn't be without it.

I have been making soap for four years now. You should try some homemade soap. If the soap has the proper mix of oils, it will be a wonder on the face. Some people use too much coconut oil (which creates a great lather) and it causes the skin to feel dry. I cannot think of the last time I bought detergents disguised as "soap." All of the glycerine (natural moisturizer) is removed. That is why Dove adds moisturizer and tricks you into thinking that you are getting more. I don't sell my soaps, so please don't start asking.

The wonderful Funns gave me a present of soap from Pachouli's at Gulf Place. It's not labelled as facial soap, but it's mild enough to use it as that, as I have been. Even with dry winter weather, this handmade soap is doing a first-rate job. :rotfl: (The soap's label is my avatar this month.)

Does it curl up as well? Mine does. I like it though. I've already decided that I could never do the snowbird routine to any place that didn't have a healthy dose of humidity. I hate it when the air's dry--my hair goes flat flat flat. :sosad:

Any good recs for shampoos and conditioners, anyone??

my hair is flat, no curl, no body, nothing but these very fashionable gray streaks ;-) that's why i gets perms every now and then, for a bit of lift and body, it esp. makes maintenance easy in summer.

:funn:My brother used to say that the thing he liked least about living in FL was drying off after getting out of the shower and still being wet. I am sure you know what he is talking about.

mr audie says the same thing every time we are down there - "something is wrong with these towels - they don't dry well"

Well that may be another thread. If fabric softeners are used when laundering the towels, the towels do lose their absorbancy factor.

I know we talked about some in the thread about the Chi, but I can't remember them all. Those of us with thick, curly and/or coarse hair like Aveda Sap Moss shampoo and conditioner. I really love the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny line, and another good line is the Matrix line, I forget the exact name but it's something Smoothing, I think. Any of the salon lines that say they are smoothing are products that are very moisturizing.
Yes, the Supper Skinny oil is a life saver for my son and me as our hair is soooooooooo course, like a horse's tail. My husband who has normal, naturally semi-oily hair, just cringes when he sees us pump that pure oil onto our freshly washed hair!

yeah, i don't even use dryer sheets with my towels at home anymore, you would think the softer they are the more they will absorb - not !
