For the non-church-goers, would you go to church if they served free good beer during service?

We have a Muslem mosque in my neighborhood and honestly other than it causes a traffic jam on the side of the street during their worship times, no one cares.

We live in a very diverse area of town, we are a village for everyone. Sadly I guess that is not the case everywhere though.

Televised mass is nice for older/infirm people who cannot get out. (Especially since the dwindling number of priests makes it hard for them to have services brought to them).

Other than that - vote with the clicker!

Maybe this doesn't seem odd to locals or folks native to small towns. But as a transplant I find it interesting that the local NBC affiliate's Sunday morning lineup consists of The Living Word presented by the Springfield Community Church followed by Meet the Press and then a full mass (not sure who produces this).

I personally am unoffended by it especially since my understanding is that both represent paid programming. On a side note, I find the Springfield Church program very entertaining. But I digress.

I can't help but wonder. What would happen if a Muslim service pooled resources together and bought airtime and presented a prayer service? Would the station allow it and take their money? Would folks find it odd or be offended?

Since the thread is about religious programming locally (in case nobody has noticed, this area is uber Christian Bible belt ;-)), I really doubt we will ever see any diversity in religious TV programming since diversity is pretty much non-existent here. So everyone can probably relax.

Most of the local churches that broadcast locally feel diversity is baptist, methodist, catholic, lutheran, etc.

Read this in a column about the Tebow ad and thought it was an appropriate summary of my feelings about people who think THEIR religious beliefs apply to everyone and need to be constantly broadcasted:

"You want to stuff your religion down my throat, have the decency to come and ring my doorbell like a good Mormon or Jehovah?s Witness.
Then I can at least share with you my own fervently held belief:You are a presumptuous and pompous gasbag." - Mike Celiziac

Would you really say that to someone? I've always tried to be tolerant and gracious to anyone that lays aside their ego to try to bring a message to me that perhaps i had not heard. Not one of those visits have i ever felt like someone was trying to shove anything down my throat. Occasionally, i've felt like "maybe i needed to hear this today."

I was focusing more on the "I prefer you give me your opinion in a venue where I get to respond to you" aspect.
